Surrey’s Halloween Haunted Houses (and Bus of Terror) in 2025
2025 marks the 25th season of frights and fun at Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors! It’s their quarter century celebration with more frights and ghoulish entertainment than ever!
Cougar Creek is a tremendously popular seasonal attraction and one of BC’s best Halloween destinations for people who like getting freaked out. Fright seekers travel from all over the region to experience the fun!
Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors is like a cross between visiting Disneyland and being inside multiple different horror movie sets. The haunted houses really are some of the best you’ll find anywhere.
Where is Cougar Creek?
Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors’ address is 12530 72nd Avenue in Surrey. It’s in south-central Surrey near Newton. Depending on the traffic, it’s about a 45-minute drive from Vancouver.
When Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors first debuted, it was just a single haunted house. The success of the attraction has led to it expanding in size. There are now five haunted houses waiting to spook you.
The attraction has quite a bit of free on-site parking and there is street parking in the area as well. It’s also quite an easy trip via public transit. This year, the R6 RapidBus stops right outside the venue!
Hours and Admission
Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors takes place on over 20 nights between early October and early November.
In 2025 Cougar Creek is open on October 3rd to 5th, 9th to 12th, 15th to 19th, 22nd to 26th, and October 28th until November 1st. It’s also open on Saturday, November 8th. Hours of operation are between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm each night.
The scariest night of the event is Saturday, November 1st, as the attraction is almost pitch black on that day! Each group only gets one tea light.
Regular admission in 2025 includes access to all five haunted houses. Prices range from about $38 to $50 depending on the day. For parents crazy enough to bring young children to the regular nights, children ages five and under are free (although they highly recommend taking younger children to Horrors Jr in the daytime instead).
For Halloween enthusiasts wanting to avoid the longer lines, Speedpasses are available for an additional $20. There is also a VIP Speedpass which grants instant access to the attractions, plus some other goodies.
Horrors Jr is when the scare factor is turned down. Admission to it costs $20. Tickets include access to all houses during the day. The price is the same for both children and adults, except for kids ages three and under who are free.
Visit the Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors website for tickets and full details.
What to Expect
Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors is exceptional. It’s of a professional quality and highly recommended (assuming you like scary stuff). It’s definitely worth the trip out to Surrey to see it.
In the lineup you can expect loud rocking music, flashing lights and the odd scary character walking around. Inside the venues, expect lots of blood and bulging eyes, torture-chamber-like scenes, musty smells, and wax-museum-calibre characters. There are also live actors.
A nice bonus at Cougar Creek is the entertainment while you’re waiting in line. Scary characters in costume walk by from time to time and stop to interact and take photos with visitors. On the stage every night is Dandy of the Dead, a haunted cabaret-style theatre act. On the night when we went two years ago Dandy did a variety of jokes and songs in a Rocky Horror Picture Show style. He was wonderful, scary and hilarious all at the same time.
If you like haunted houses, you’ll love this place!
Horrors Jr at Cougar Creek
In addition to its regular scary experiences, Cougar Creek House of Horrors offers Horrors Jr, which is the show for younger patrons on most weekends. It’s aimed at the ages 10 to 13 years-old crowd, and for adults who are more timid that average. Horrors Jr has softer sounds, no actors, and no moving animatronics.

Cougar Creek’s Haunted Houses
In 2025 the haunts are Echoes of Abbath, New Year’s Evil, Abomination, Zycho Zerkus and Sinneraria.
The live actors are excellent. The scene settings are Hollywood-level, complete with clammy, spooky smells. Each haunted house takes an average of about 5 minutes to go through, plus or minus. To enjoy everything, including the nightly show, most people are at the attraction for between 90 minutes and a couple of hours total.
Visit the Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors website for tickets and full details.
Echoes of Abbath
Echoes of Abbath features an underworld theme. Guests move through temple and forest- themed decorations and come face-to-face with Abbath’s army.
New Year’s Evil
New Year’s Evil transports visitors to a motel in 1970. It’s snowing outside and dead bodies turn up as midnight approaches. There are gory scenes and loud music in the hallways.
Abomination
This haunted house is set on an old farm, with grotesque animal and human hybrids wandering around. It’s the result of evil experiments gone wrong. The vibe is very much rural farm/trailer-park. This haunted house is a bit of Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets The Trailer Park Boys!
Zycho Zerkus
This haunted house is full of clowns! There are funhouses, tents and other elements to walk through too.
Sinneraria
Sinneraria is a decontamination chamber with infected staff. Brave visitors find themselves at the centre of a deadly disease outbreak. They have to keep their wits about them and escape the clutches of those who are infected.
Visit the Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors website for tickets and full details.
Extra Attractions
In addition to the haunted attractions, Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors features a haunted photobooth that sends pictures directly to your phone. There is also the “Buried Alive” coffin ride where you experience what it’s like to be buried alive six feet underground.
Horrors Jr Times and Prices
Horrors Jr is when the scariness factor is turned down a couple of notches. It’s when there are no live actors or scary animatronics, so it’s a little more kid-friendly (but still only for kids who are pretty brave). It’s considered appropriate for kids ages 13 and under who can handle graphic scenes.
In 2025 Horrors Jr Show runs from 4:00 to 5:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays between October 11th and 26th.
Admission during these special timeslots costs about $20. Tickets include access to all houses during the day. The price is the same for both children and adults, except for kids ages three and under.
Bus of Terror
New for 2025, Cougar Creek has a Bus of Terror on Saturday, October 25th. The party bus picks you up from Vancouver’s Burrard Station and drives you to Cougar Creek with live entertainment along the way. After you see the haunted houses with immediate access privileges, you’ll then get dropped back off on Granville Street in Vancouver (where you can then continue partying wherever and however you like). The Bus of Terror is only available on one day and it costs about $250 per person.
Winter Craving Madness
On Cougar Creek’s last day of operations in 2025, there’s a special edition of the event. Winter Craving Madness features LED mazes with music. Visitors can dance and enjoy the spooky vibes as a farewell to fall. The experience happens this year on Saturday, November 8th.
Cougar Creek Video
Check out the video below for an idea of what to expect at Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors. It shows scenes of the place from outside in 2023. As you’ll see, it’s a fairly large and elaborate place. Wait until you see the inside (when you visit in person). It’s impressive!
(Actually, if you really want to see more, we have another video with a bit more detail, including a few scenes from inside the place, on YouTube. If you can go in real life, though, it’s so much better!)
Tips to Enhance Your Experience
Below are some tips and suggestions to help you make the most of your Halloween experience at Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors.
TIP #1: If you can afford it, get a Speedpass to avoid the long lines. The lineups won’t likely be long early in the season, especially on weekdays. They likely will be, however, as you get closer to Halloween night and on weekends with good weather.
TIP #2: With regular tickets, we recommend going early on an evening close to the beginning of October. The nearer you get to Halloween, the busier the attraction will get.
TIP #3: If you like haunted houses, especially really scary ones, go to Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors. It’s one of the best!
TIP #4: Thousands and thousands of children enjoy Horrors Jr each year, but parents know their children best, and many children still find Horrors Jr quite frightening. Don’t say you haven’t been warned!
TIP #5: Cougar Creek has a fabulous merch booth with all sorts of terrifying custom souvenir merchandise and a concession with ghoulish snacks.
TIP #6: Don’t forget, if you don’t want to drive from Vancouver to Surrey, join the Bus of Terror on October 25th. This way, you’ll get to ride in a party bus both to and from the attraction.
