Redwoods Golf Course in Langley

Redwoods is one of the top-rated golf courses in the Vancouver region. It’s an 18-hole par 71 golf course located about 5 minutes from Fort Langley.

The place features narrow fairways surrounded by tall trees, along with mountainous views in the background. When we played there we really enjoyed it!

COURSE CLOSED

Due to the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, the Redwoods golf course, restaurant and driving range are all closed in 2023. The course is hoping to reopen in the spring of 2024. Until then, only weddings and private banquets are taking place.

Langley’s Redwoods Golf Course

Redwoods claims to offer the best golfing experience in Langley. It has 18 holes and is a par 71 that totals 6516 yards from the championship blue tees. In our opinion, it is certainly among the best public courses in Metro Vancouver.

Upon entering the premises, it’s clear that you’re away from the city and into the country. The path to the pro shop has a neat garden and there are sneak peeks of the course’s signature tall trees. The staff is very welcoming, and to ensure a smooth pace of play, a marshal at the first tee box instructs each group when to tee off.

The course is well-maintained, with narrow, hilly fairways and large, sloped greens. As the course’s name suggests, there is an abundance of huge trees and woods around most of the fairways.

All the trees can be quite intimidating from the tee boxes, especially for golfers who are not as skilled as others. However, holes 1, 11 and 18 are significantly more open than the rest. Also, when we played the course in the summer of 2020, the rough was surprisingly forgiving which relieved some of the nerves.

Practice facilities are available as well and make for an excellent warm up. Redwoods has a standard driving range with twenty-six stalls, some of which are heated. There are separate practice greens for putting and chipping too, which provide golfers a preview of the course’s green conditions.

As the Redwoods’ website suggests, the course’s location allows for a quiet and relaxing escape from noisier city life. There are some fantastic views of mountains to enjoy throughout the round that pair well with the towering trees and add to the overall calming experience.

Where is Redwoods?

The Redwoods Golf Course is located at 22011 88th Avenue in northern Langley.

If driving from a region west of Langley, the Trans-Canada Highway is probably the fastest option. Take exit 58, then turn right onto 88th Avenue. Continue straight until you pass 216th Street, and the course should be on the left side.

Redwoods is less than 3.5 km from the historic village of Fort Langley. Other courses close by include Pagoda Ridge and the Fort Langley Golf Course, among others.

Redwoods Green Fees

In early 2022, tee times were available up to thirty days prior to playing and prices varied throughout the year. As of February, prime time adult rates were around $55 on weekdays and $65 on weekends. Reservations had to be made online at the time.

Note: Like other golf courses, green fees at Redwoods vary based on the time of day and become gradually less expensive as each day goes on. Prices are subject to change.

General Tips

Below are some suggestions to help enhance your golfing experience.

TIP #1: Unlike some courses, flags at Redwoods are all the same colour (at least they were in 2020). Pin locations vary from day to day, and are only outlined in the scorecard, so be sure to grab or download one prior to your round. Scorecards are also available at the hole 2 tee box.

TIP #2: Some holes are hilly to the point that you cannot see the green or pin depending on where you are. Check out the Redwood’s Golf App for both on-course and driving range GPS as well as an online score card and special deals. You can also review the course’s flyovers by clicking here.

TIP #3: There are some longer and uphill paths between holes, so be sure to rent a push or power cart if need be.

TIP #4: Hole 9 loops back to the clubhouse which is convenient for a bathroom stop. There is also a snack shop at the tenth tee with sandwiches, drinks and more to refuel your energy.

TIP #5: While in the area, check out some of the region’s other attractions and top places. These include the Fort Langley Historic Site and Lower Mainland Wineries.
