Below, in our opinion, are the Lower Mainland’s top eleven public golf courses in alphabetical order.

 

Fraserview Golf Course

Located at 7800 Vivian Drive in Vancouver, Fraserview Golf Course is a well-maintained municipal course close to the Fraser River. Fraserview is a par 72 that plays 6692 yards from its most challenging gold tees. The course’s traditional layout features beautiful tree-lined fairways and varied terrain. Fraserview also offers a two-level driving range with 36 stalls, as well as multiple putting greens for folks to practice their short games.

GreenTee Country Club

A unique course with Asian-influenced architecture, GreenTee Country Club (formerly known as Pagoda Ridge) includes a replica Great Wall of China and a Chinese Fighting Ship. The course is well-maintained, quite forgiving and is also known to stay dry. GreenTee is a par 72 that plays 6965 yards from its gold tees. The course is located at 7887 264th Street in Langley.

Located at 3388 72nd Street in Delta, this unique course is set beside Boundary Bay water and resembles the style of Scottish links courses. The fairways are inviting with fewer trees than most, but the tall grass in some areas still presents challenges. The course is a par 72 that measures 6865 yards from the furthest tees.

Meadow Gardens Golf Course

Meadow Gardens Golf Club is located at 19675 Meadow Gardens Way in the city of Pitt Meadows. The course’s design offers several interesting holes that set it apart from others. The 18th hole at Meadow Gardens is one of the best holes in the province, as it boasts separate island fairways and finishes with an island green. Meadow Gardens is a par 72 course that plays 7041 yards in total from the tips.

Morgan Creek Golf Course

The Morgan Creek Golf Course is a par 72 that spans 6955 yards long from its championship tees. Open 364 days most years, the course claims to stay dry and provide an enjoyable golfing experience throughout all four seasons. Located at 3500 Morgan Creek Way in Surrey, golfers get to admire stunning views of Mount Baker. Practice facilities include a driving range with grass tees as well as a couple of greens for chipping and putting.

Northlands Golf Course

Located at 3400 Anne Macdonald Way, Northlands is North Vancouver‘s premiere golf course. It’s situated beside a mountain so it’s very scenic and peaceful. The course features challenging hills, large greens and four different tee boxes. Northlands is a par 71 that plays 6523 yards from the tips.

Northview Golf and Country Club

Northview Golf and Country Club is home to two championship golf courses at 6857 168th Street in Surrey. Both golf courses were designed by Arnold Palmer and have a par of 72. The Ridge Course plays 6900 yards from the tips while the Canal plays 7100 yards. Northview also offers a great practice facility with grass tees and a bunker.

Redwoods Golf Course

Note: This course is closed until the spring of 2024.

The Redwoods Golf Course is located at 22011-88th Avenue in Langley. The course is a par 71 with a total yardage of 6516 from its most difficult tees. Claiming to be the best golf destination in Langley, fairways are surrounded by intimidating trees and wonderful views of mountains. The practice area contains a regular driving range that’s good for warming up.

Sandpiper Resort Golf Course

Sandpiper Resort features one of the best golf courses in the Fraser Valley region, with holes right along the Harrison River. The signature 15th green is behind bunkers that form a Sasquatch footprint. The par 72, 6500 yard-long course is located at 14282 Morris Valley Road in Harrison Mills.

Swaneset Bay Resort

Swaneset Bay Resort has a pair of well-maintained championship courses with coastal mountain views. Located at 16651 Rannie Road in Pitt Meadows, the place’s entrance is grand and the clubhouse looks like a fancy mansion. The somewhat remote location makes for a very peaceful experience in nature. The Links course at Swaneset is a par 72 that plays up to 7126 yards, whereas the Resort course is a par 72 that plays up to 7000 yards.

University Golf Club

The University Golf Club is a traditional course in the University Endowment Lands that opened around 1929. It features long, narrow and challenging fairways as well as a partially covered driving range. The tree-lined fairways are impressive and the landscape is generally flat. From the tips, the par 72 course plays 6423 yards. The University Golf Club is located at 5185 University Boulevard in UBC’s Pacific Spirit Regional Park.

Vancouver’s Best Private and Semi-Private Golf Courses

In addition to the above golf courses where anyone can play, the list below features the region’s best golf courses that are either members (and their guests) only, or private but with limited public access. To play on one of these courses you may need to make friends with some of their members – either that or be willing to shell out a lot of money for membership.

Note: The following list is in alphabetical order, not ranked based on preference.

 

Capilano Golf & Country Club

Consistently recognized as one of the best golf courses in British Columbia, Capilano has large fairways and fantastic views of the City of Vancouver. The course is a par 70 that plays 6706 yards from the tips. The club is located at 420 Southborough Drive in West Vancouver.

Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club

Mayfair Lakes is one of the best golf courses in Richmond. The par 71, 6608-yard course has many picturesque but intimidating water hazards that make for a challenging round. Since this is a semi-private course, public tee times are usually available. Mayfair Lakes is at 5460 No. 7 Road in Richmond.

Nicklaus North Golf Course

Designed by Jack Nicklaus himself, Nicklaus North is surrounded by incredible Whistler mountains and recognized as one of the best golf courses in Canada. The course is a par 71 that plays 6961 yards from the tips. It’s located at 8080 Nicklaus North Boulevard in Whistler.

Richmond Country Club

Richmond Country Club is located at 9100 Steveston Highway in Richmond. The championship course is a par 72 that plays 6773 yards from its most difficult tees. However, there are many different tee locations for all types of players to enjoy. The course has signature undulated greens and lush trees between fairways.

Seymour Golf & Country Club

Seymour Golf and Country Club is home to a challenging par 72 course near the North Shore Mountains. It has narrow fairways and fast-paced greens. The driving range features both grass and synthetic tees, while the course is up to 6432 yards long. The course’s address is 3723 Mount Seymour Parkway in North Vancouver.

Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club

Located at 4300 Marine Drive SW in Vancouver, Shaughnessy’s championship course design is full of winding fairways situated along the Strait of Georgia. The club has hosted four Canadian Opens throughout its history, and has the largest grass tee practice range in the Lower Mainland. The course is a par 72 that plays 7045 yards from its tips.

Vancouver Golf Club

The Vancouver Golf Club offers one of the most challenging courses in the City of Coquitlam, with a hilly front nine and densely forested areas. The practice facility includes a grass tee driving range, two par 3 holes and more. From its furthest tees, the par 72 course is 6800 yards long. The course is located at 771 Austin Avenue in Coquitlam.

Vancouver’s Best Executive Golf Courses

The places listed below offer some of the best executive-length golf courses in Metro Vancouver. Executive courses are longer than pitch and putt courses but shorter than full-length courses. They are mainly composed of par 3’s and 4’s that are fun for golfers of all skill levels.

 

Country Meadows

Country Meadows is a pleasant 18-hole course that’s welcoming to golfers of all kinds. The course features a mixture of short and long par 3’s, as well as four par 4’s with strategically placed hazards. It’s a par 58 that plays 3157 yards from the white tees. Country Meadows is located at 8400 No. 6 Road in Richmond.

Cultus Lake Golf Club

Cultus Lake Golf Club is at 4000 Columbia Valley Road in the Cultus Lake region. Perhaps the most scenic executive course in our list, Cultus Lake Golf Club offers a challenging 18-hole course with narrow tree-lined fairways and small greens. It’s a par 63 course that plays up to 4005 yards. There’s also a Toptracer driving range with launch monitor technology and multiple game modes to play.

Poppy Estate Golf Course

Poppy Estate is a well-maintained executive golf course with nine par 3’s, nine par 4’s and some interesting elevation changes. The 4503-yard course features a number of holes that golfers can use their drivers on, as it’s one of the longest executive courses in the region. The par 63 course is located at 3834 248th Street in Langley.

Savage Creek

Located at 7388 No. 6 Road in Richmond, Savage Creek is a new 15-hole executive golf course with six par 3’s, eight par 4’s and one par 5. In total, the course plays up to 3444 yards and is a par 55. Savage Creek also boasts a full-sized driving range and an 18-hole miniature golf course with real grass greens.

Mini-Golf and Pitch & Putt

If you are interested in just playing around, you’re not too serious, and you’re looking for a fun time with the family or friends, there are also lots of great mini-golf venues and places for a round of pitch and putt.

 

Vancouver Mini-Golf Locations

A couple of the most popular mini-golf venues are the one at Bear Creek Park in Surrey and the courses at Castle Fun Park in Abbotsford in the Fraser Valley. Another interesting course is the one at the Art Knapp garden store also in Surrey. If you want to go to a garden store and have to take the kids, this is a great one to visit.

 

Vancouver Pitch & Putt Golf Locations

There are these kinds of courses all around, but some you might want to check out include the Queen Elizabeth Park Pitch & Putt at Queen Elizabeth Park, the Stanley Park Pitch & Putt and Putting Green at Stanley Park, Murdo Fraser in North Vancouver and the Ambleside Par 3 Course at Ambleside in West Vancouver.
