What to Expect at Meadow Gardens

Most of the fairways are narrow and the rough is thick so it truly slows the ball down. The greens are smooth, fast and quite large in size. The hole diagrams at each tee box are clear and useful. With carefully placed and designed bunkers, as well as large ponds and other hazards, each hole presents golfers with difficult challenges and choices.

Paths lead over small bridges and even a picturesque boardwalk. The course is beautifully designed and relatively flat, so walking is enjoyable. The green on the par 3 hole 4, for example, is surrounded by a unique moat of sand. In addition, hole 12 features a large bunker in the middle of the fairway that spans about 80 yards long, and there is a big pond along the left side.

Lastly, known as one of the best holes in the province, Meadow Gardens’ signature hole 18 is a wonderful way for golfers to end their rounds. It’s a unique par 5 with two island fairways and an island green, all of which make club selection very important. The surrounding water may be intimidating, but it’s a beautiful sight to see that almost looks straight out of a video game.

The practice facility features a driving range with grass tees and covered stalls, all of which have a stunning view of Golden Ears mountains in the distance. The driving range is relatively small, so drivers and woods are not usually permitted. There are three practice putting greens for golfers to warm up and get a feel of the course’s green conditions.

General Tips

Below are some suggestions to help you make the most out of your Meadow Gardens golfing experience.

TIP #1: If you’d like to see the course’s layout in advance and get a better idea of the yardages, see the Meadow Gardens Hole Diagram page. Flyover footage of each hole is also available on the Meadow Gardens Drone Videos page.

TIP #2: The parking lot is much bigger than it may first appear. Parking at the first set of stalls you see on your right side requires a long walk to the pro shop and course facilities. Instead, continue driving straight and you should see more stalls close to the pro shop, as well as overflow parking on gravel in front of the driving range.

TIP #3: Hole 18 looks intimidating from all angles, but the first island fairway is actually quite large. Aiming for the stakes in the middle of both fairways is a safe way to play this par 5. However, playing it safe likely won’t give you an eagle opportunity. More risky players can try aiming past and to the left of the first fairway’s stake. This should reduce the distance required for the following shots.

TIP #4: Like most other golf courses, each hole’s pin location varies from time to time. At Meadow Gardens, front pins have red flags, middle pins have yellow flags, and back pins have blue flags.

TIP #5: While in the area, check out the Maple Ridge Farmers Market which is less than 15 minutes away. It takes place on Saturdays from late spring until mid-autumn. If you’d like to make a day trip, Golden Ears Provincial Park and Pitt Lake are each about 20 minutes away and well worth a visit. Kanaka Creek Park is also a nice place to explore.
