Remembrance Day in Fort Langley

Fort Langley Remembrance Day ceremonies on November 11th involve a procession followed by a service at the cenotaph at the Fort Langley Cemetery.

Some years in the past there has also been a flyover by the Fraser Blues Flying Team.

In 2023 the ceremony takes place as an in-person event on Saturday, November 11th.

Fort Langley Remembrance Day Ceremonies

Similar to other years pre-COVID, in 2019 the Remembrance Day event in Fort Langley took place at the Fort Langley Cemetery at 23105 St. Andrews Street. Ceremonies began with a procession at 10:25 am through the cemetery to the cenotaph. This was followed by a service and a flypast by the Fraser Blues.

In 2019 a Remembrance Day tribute also took place in the gardens located directly across from the St. Andrews Cemetery at 23105 St. Glover Road. Displays included ceramic poppy sculptures from local artist Julie Bourne. Folk were welcome to explore the displays, light a candle and plant poppy seeds in remembrance of fallen soldiers.

Due to COVID-19, the general public was not able to attend any in-person ceremonies in 2020 and 2021. In 2022 the service took place at the Fort Langley Cemetery at 10:15 am. The Cenotaph was closed to the public during the service. However, the service was available to watch live online on the Fort Langley Remembers website or the Fort Langley Remembers Facebook page. The public was also welcome to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph after the service which ended at around 12:00 pm.

In 2023 the public is welcome to attend the event at the cenotaph at 23105 St. Andrews Avenue beginning at 10:15 am. It will also be live-streamed on Facebook. As of the beginning of November, however, additional details about the ceremonies were still to be confirmed.
