OTHER EVENTS IN PORT COQUITLAM
There are a number of events in Port Coquitlam between Remembrance Day and the end of the year. Some of them include the following:
- Winter in the City – a community event at the start of the winter holiday season, usually in late November.
- Christmas in the Square & Winter Market – live entertainment, market vendors, the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree, and other family-friendly activities on November 29th.
- Parade of Lights – a Christmas parade on December 6th.
- CPKC Holiday Train – on December 20th.
Remembrance Day in Port Coquitlam
Remembrance Day is a day to honour Canadians who have fought for their country and to remember past wars. The day falls on a Tuesday in 2025.
The event includes a parade that usually starts at around 10:00 am or 10:10 am. Veterans, police officers, cadets and members of the local Royal Canadian Legion march to the Cenotaph at Veterans Park in front of Port Coquitlam’s City Hall. The parade is followed by a service at Veterans Park at 2580 Shaughnessy Street. The ceremony is usually about an hour long. The ceremonies include the traditional two minutes of silence and laying of wreathes.

Below are some tips to help you make the most of your November 11th experience in Port Coquitlam.
TIP #1: The ceremony at Veterans Park is outdoors, so dress for the weather. It may be cold and/or raining, so jackets and umbrellas are recommended.
TIP #2: There are road closures for the parade, just like at other events. Plan your route ahead of time, or take public transit to avoid the traffic.
TIP #3: Don’t forget to wear your poppy.
