Richmond Celebrates Soccer is a series of free FIFA World Cup-themed events including live match screenings, family activities and community festivals in 2026.

Note: Richmond Celebrates Soccer isn’t an “official” FIFA event. It celebrates the World Cup coming to Metro Vancouver, however. It also promises to be lots of fun (plus admission is free)!

Richmond FIFA World Cup Celebrations

Richmond Celebrates Soccer is a city-wide series of free community events taking place across Richmond during the FIFA World Cup in 2026. The world-famous soccer tournament runs from June 11th until July 19th. Running from June 12th until the end of the games, the celebrations in Richmond include outdoor live match screenings, soccer activities, live entertainment, cultural programming, family attractions, food trucks, and community festivals at parks and public spaces throughout the city.

While live FIFA matches take place in Canada at stadiums in Vancouver and Toronto, Richmond joins the excitement with local viewing parties and soccer-themed community events designed for all ages.

Most events in Richmond feature free admission and public screenings of FIFA World Cup matches on large outdoor screens. Activities vary by location and they include inflatable attractions, live music, sports demonstrations, soccer games, arts & crafts, cultural performances, raffles, food vendors and family-friendly entertainment. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor viewing areas.

Richmond Celebrates Soccer features two Signature Events (which means they are the biggest and with the most activities). One is the World Soccer Day Kick-Off Event which takes place at the Richmond Olympic Oval on Friday, June 12th. The other is the Final Event celebrating the final game and last day of the FIFA World Cup. It takes place at Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park on Sunday, July 19th. In addition to these two signature events, other family-friendly activities and game viewings happen at nine other locations on nine other dates.

Richmond Celebrates Soccer

 

World Soccer Day Kick-Off Event in Richmond

With Richmond Celebrates Soccer, the main opening celebration takes place on Friday, June 12th, at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The free event marks the beginning of Richmond’s summer-long soccer festivities with two live match broadcasts, community activities, and entertainment throughout the day.

Featured match screenings at this event include the Canada versus Bosnia & Herzegovina game at noon and the United States versus Paraguay at 6:00 pm. At the Olympic Oval, visitors can also enjoy 3-on-3 soccer tournaments, foosball activities, sports trivia, obstacle courses, BBQ food service, and live music performances. Community organizations and local soccer groups also take part with interactive displays and activities.

The World Soccer Day Kick-Off Event runs from 10:00 am until 8:30 pm at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Admission is free.

World Ocean Day at the Cannery

 

Final FIFA World Cup Celebration Event

During Richmond Celebrates Soccer, the largest event in the series takes place at Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park on Sunday, July 19th. The event serves as Richmond’s celebration of the FIFA World Cup Final and includes a large outdoor watch party for the championship match.

Visitors at this event can enjoy soccer-themed activities, cultural performances, family attractions, live entertainment, community displays, food trucks, and public viewing of the FIFA World Cup Final on a big outdoor screen.

Community Soccer Events in Richmond

Throughout June and July, in addition to the two Signature Events, other community celebrations take place at parks and neighbourhood gathering spaces around Richmond. Each event features its own mix of soccer activities, entertainment, cultural programming and public match viewing experiences.

In 2026 Richmond Celebrates Soccer events take place at Hamilton Community Park, Minoru Centre, Garden City Community Park, Thompson Community Park, South Arm Community Park, King George Park, Burkeville Neighbourhood Park, Hugh Boyd Community Park, Steveston Community Park, and Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park. Hamilton Community Park (June 14th)

Hamilton’s Soccer Slam takes place on June 14th at Hamilton Community Park. The family-friendly outdoor event features match screenings, inflatable bouncy structures, soccer-themed games, food trucks and activities for all ages.

 

Minoru Centre (June 18th)

(7191 Granville Street – Near Minoru Park and City Hall)

The Golden Boot Gathering happens on June 18th at the Minoru Centre for Active Living Plaza. This event focuses on community connection and culture with public match viewings, music, soccer-themed activities, crafts, and entertainment geared toward older adults.

 

Garden City Community Park (June 21st)

(6620 Garden City Road)

City Centre Celebrates Soccer takes place on June 21st at Garden City Community Park. The event combines soccer celebrations with Indigenous cultural experiences including cedar weaving, crafts, inflatables and family activities. (Note: This event takes place on National Indigenous Peoples Day.)

Community Soccer Fest happens on June 24th at Thompson Community Park. Visitors can enjoy soccer-inspired games, live performances, inflatables, giant activities, crafts, giveaways and entertainment throughout the event.

 

South Arm Community Park (July 6th)

(8680 Williams Road)

The Neighbourhood Block Party takes place on July 6th at South Arm Community Park. The celebration includes dance entertainment, face painting, inflatable attractions, games and community activities designed for all ages.

King George Park (July 7th)

(12211 Cambie Road – near IKEA)

The Cambie Kick-Off is scheduled for July 7th at King George Park. The community festival features soccer skill challenges, inflatables, music, family entertainment, raffles and children’s activities.

 

Burkeville Neighbourhood Park (July 11th)

(1060 Catalina Crescent – Near Larry Berg Flight Path Park, BCIT and YVR)

Burkeville Soccer Celebration happens on July 11th at Burkeville Neighbourhood Park (which isn’t far from Vancouver International Airport). This event includes soccer drills, art stations, community booths and hands-on activities for families and children.

Richmond Celebrates Soccer: West Fest takes place on July 14th at Hugh Boyd Community Park. This free festival features live performances, giant games, sensory activities, inflatables, balloon entertainment and soccer-themed fun.

 

Steveston Community Park (July 18th)

Steveston Celebrates Soccer rounds out the neighbourhood events on July 18th at Steveston Community Park. The celebration includes recreational soccer games, live entertainment, food trucks, community activities and soccer programming for all ages.
