Where & When is Zoo Lights

Last year Zoo Lights happened between November 22nd and January 4th. It returns on November 26th, 2026. The event takes place at the Greater Vancouver Zoo which is located at 5048 – 264 Street in Aldergrove (which is a neighbourhood in eastern Langley). It’s less than an hour’s drive from downtown Vancouver in good traffic.

At the winter holiday attraction guests can access the zoo starting from midday with special evening experiences running after dark. Certain features such as the Arctic Express Train operate during designated hours in the evening.

What to Expect at Zoo Lights

The highlight of Zoo Lights is the series of themed light displays spread throughout the zoo. Last year, visitors began at Nutcracker Boulevard where festive lanterns and classic holiday scenes set the tone. From there, paths led through Mystic Grove, a glowing forest filled with illuminated creatures and a towering Tree of Life, and into Spirits of the Wild where colourful animal lanterns celebrated wildlife from around the world.

Another immersive area last year was Dragon’s Passage, a radiant tunnel guarded by a dragon and koi-inspired designs. There was also the Zodiac Trail where the twelve zodiac animals shined beneath a canopy of lights. Both of these will likely be back in 2026.

In addition to the displays, guests were able to ride the Arctic Express Train at night. The evening ride featured the story of a wildlife biologist journeying through northern British Columbia. The trip included silhouettes of native animals such as wolves, elk and mountain goats along the route.

Holiday photo opportunities were also available last year with professional photos taken in a winter-themed setting. Each session included a printed photo.
