The Tsawwassen Sun Festival is a community event in early August. It includes a softball tournament, pancake breakfast, parade and vintage car show.
At the festival there is also usually a beer garden, lawn bowling tournament, skateboard competition, volleyball tournament, bingo, live music, talent show and outdoor drive-in movie.
The festival happens on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the August long weekend.
Other events that happen on the August long weekend include the Abbotsford Agrifair, Brigade Days in Fort Langley, the Vancouver Pride Festival and Squamish Days. New for 2025, there is also Celebrate BC which was a free event at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam.

Tsawwassen Sun Festival in South Delta
The festival happened from August 2nd to 4th in 2025. It’s an especially popular event for locals as well as for participants in its various sporting competitions.
Festival Event Schedule
Activities and scheduled times for the Tsawwassen Sun Festival this past year are listed below. The main day of the festival, and the one of most importance and interest to children and young families, is the holiday Monday.

Saturday, August 2nd, 2025
- Lawn Bowling Tournament – the annual event started at 9:00 am at Winskill Park’s lawn bowling fields.
- Co-Ed Grass Volleyball Tournament – a tournament of six players per team (with at least two males and two females per team) took place at Dennison Park from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Slo-Pitch Tournament – the 20-team tournament ran from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm at Winskill Park.
- Beer Garden – a beer garden for adults was available at Winskill Park between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
- Skateboard Competition – different age groups and skill levels competed for prizes from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Registration opened at noon.
- Bingo – bingo tournaments at the South Delta Recreation Centre ran from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
- Movie Night – a free outdoor movie screening at Southlands Grange. Those at the screening could bring along a towel or blanket to sit on as well as snacks to eat.
Sunday, August 3rd, 2025
- Slo-Pitch Tournament – the 20-team tournament continued with Round Robin games from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm at Winskill Park.
- Beer Garden – a beer garden was open for adults at Winskill Park from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm.
- Pickleball Tournament – two tournaments with eight teams each happened at Dennison Park’s pickleball courts.
- Drone Show – new for 2025, drones lit up the sky at 10:00 pm outside the South Delta Recreation Centre.

Monday, August 4th, 2025
- Pancake Breakfast – the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club hosted a pancake and sausage breakfast at 8:00 am at Winskill Park.
- Children’s Midway – an area full of children’s activities that included slides, crafts, face painting, bouncy castle from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at Winskill Park.
- Rotary Parade – the parade went along 56th Street to Winskill Park beginning at 11:00 am. There are usually small cars, floats, music and more.
- Sun Festival Classic Car Show – the car show took place at Winskill Park before, during and after the parade. There were vehicles from all different eras to check out between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm.
- Slo-Pitch Tournament – the 20-team tournament concluded with games from 9:00 am until 5:30 pm at Winskill Park.
- Main Stage – live music with ICONIX at Winskill Park which ran from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
- BINGO & Pie Eating – an open-invitation bingo and pie eating contest at Winskill Park that started at 2:30 pm.
- Beer Garden – for those who are 19+ there was a beer garden open at Winskill Park from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm.
- Marketplace and Food Vendors – local vendors displayed products, creations and more at Winskill Park Center Field.

Festival Location and Venues
The festival usually takes place in the community of Tsawwassen which is in the municipality of Delta and located about 30 minutes south of downtown Vancouver (in good traffic). It’s also just a short drive away from one of the Lower Mainland’s two main BC Ferries terminals connecting the region to Vancouver Island.
Venues for the festival include the following:
- Winskill Park – at 5585 9th Avenue, it is the location for most of the events including the car show, beer garden, slo-pitch tournament, and more.
- South Delta Recreation Centre – at 1720 56th Street, it is where the bingo tournaments take place.
- Dennison Park – the volleyball and pickleball tournaments are held at 5283-5285 7a Avenue.
- Southlands Grange – the movie night happens here at 6313 Market Avenue.
- 56th Street – where a portion of the Monday morning parade runs at 11:00 am between 12th Avenue and 8A Avenue.

Other Information
While in the area, consider checking out Boundary Bay Regional Park. It’s just a short drive away and has a large sandy beach as well as hiking, cycling and horseback riding trails.
