Tips & Advice
Below are some tips and suggestions to help you make the most of your visit to the Haney Farmers’ Market.
TIP #1: Make sure to take your reusable bags as the vendors at the market strive to make it a sustainable place and reduce the amount of waste created.
TIP #2: There is parking close by that’s free for the first hour and costs about $0.75 for every additional hour. Take public transit or bike to the market if you can, though (unless you plan to buy lots and will struggle to get it home).
TIP #3: Combine your trip to the market with a visit to other places of interest in the area. Golden Ears Provincial Park is beautiful and home to picturesque Alouette Lake. Kanaka Creek Regional Park is also a nice place for a stroll. They are about a 22-minute and five-minute drive away respectively.
TIP #4: The market in Maple Ridge is hosted by the Fraser North Farmers Market Society which also runs the Port Coquitlam Farmers Market. This second market usually happens at 2253 Leigh Square Place on Thursdays from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm between June and September.
TIP #5: Shop at farmers markets as often as you can! Doing so supports local farmers and artisans, keeps dollars in the local community and is better for the environment (as the products you’ll buy don’t need to be shipped from across the globe). Shopping at local markets and chatting with the vendors can also be fun!
TIP #5: WildPlay Element Park is an outdoor adventure park in Maple Ridge with rope courses, ziplines and other fun activities. It’s a fabulous place to visit and highly recommended. Maybe try out their courses either before or after visiting the market.
