The Vancouver Horror Show

The Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival celebrates its ninth year in 2026. It runs from October 14th to 18th. The event is a registered Canadian charity. It has grown from running just a dozen films in its first year to more than 75 this year, including 15 feature films.

The 2026 Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival offers screenings at Cineplex Cinemas International Village. The different access passes offered grant entry to several other festival events including panels, parties, trivia night and the concluding awards ceremony.

The festival mostly screens short films but also displays some number of feature films. Although VHS focuses a lot on Canadian cinema, it showcases works from other countries as well. This makes VHS a very inclusive event that helps promote filmmakers from around the world.

The festival screens over 75 films in 2026. 15 of them are feature-length while the rest are short films. Movies shown are from different countries, so there is some unique and scary foreign cinema to enjoy.

Festival Prices

Tickets to the various screenings usually start at about $20 each. For the most part, feature films are shown separately whereas the short films are combined into six different group screenings.

There are plenty of events happening throughout the festival that aren’t movie screenings. That includes Q&As, filmmaker panels, live table reads and more. Three special passes are available for purchase in 2026. The Industry Pass $100 with early bird pricing and grants access to every industry panel, table read and the Golden Tape Award Ceremony. For those who want to prioritize the movies over the events, the Screening Pass ($180 early bird) grants access to every movie screening as well as the award ceremony.

Horror fans who want access to absolutely everything (plus some Vancouver Horror Show swag) can purchase the Full Fest Pass which starts at $280. All of the passes increase in price by $40 or $50 closer to the beginning of the festival.

HALLOWEEN MOVIES AND MOVIE SCENES

If you like horror movies and haunted houses, then check out Brinkworth Dungeon. The Langley-based haunted attraction has wax museum-style scenes from many classic horror movies. Much of what you’ll see there has been handmade by a professional artist.
