World of Love Multicultural Carnival

The World of Love Multicultural Carnival is a free festival in Coquitlam showcasing different cultures through performances, food, and interactive activities.

The 2026 edition of the event happens on the Saturday and Sunday of October 3rd and 4th.

(Note: A relatively new event that happens in Coquitlam is Celebrate BC. It takes place on August 3rd, which is BC Day. Admission to it is free! There’s another Celebrate BC day event that’s in Port Moody on August 1st.)

World of Love Multicultural Carnival at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam

The World of Love Multicultural Carnival is an annual event hosted by the North America Chinese Culture Promotion Society. It’s a celebration of diverse cultures and traditions, featuring more than 250 performers. The carnival is a fun way to learn about different heritages.

Although there are no amusement rides, there are lots of games and other family-friendly activities at the event. Admission is free.

When and Where?

In 2026 the fifth annual World of Love Multicultural Carnival runs on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th. The event used to take place in August but moved to October a couple years ago.

This year’s carnival takes place at two different locations. The Saturday festivities run from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Great Canadian Casino Theatre. The theatre is located at 2080 United Boulevard in Coquitlam. Sunday’s event is held at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Vancouver from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.

What to Expect

The World of Love Multicultural Carnival is a diverse cultural celebration. Expect to see friends and families of all ages enjoying the festivities.

Live entertainment is a major part of the event. There are a large number of performers including singers, dancers and musicians. There are artisan vendors and booths from local community organizations. Food trucks are on site selling barbequed meat, noodles and other ethnic cuisines.

The event usually features a number of interactive activities. Examples from previous festivals include traditional Chinese costumes to admire and try on, sugar painting and the ability to create personalized lanterns, paper-cutting and Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, as well as an exhibition featuring paintings and photographs. Other event highlights include a tea ceremony, face-painting opportunities, and the beautiful Nanjing Qinhuai Lantern Show.

The 2026 festival begins with the Sound of Harmony Gala at the Great Canadian Casino Theatre on October 3rd. That day’s activities are split into two parts. There’s the Heritage in Motion cultural display from 1:00 to 3:00 pm followed by the Performance Gala from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. On Sunday there’s the Echoes of Chinese Heritage showcase from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen garden.
