Whistler Farmers Market

The Whistler Farmers’ Market is a large farmers and artisan market. It usually takes place in Whistler‘s Upper Village at the base of Blackcomb Mountain.

The market’s 2024 season starts on May 19th (so on the May Long Weekend) and ends on October 13th.

Whistler Village Market

Whistler is considered one of North America’s top ski resorts and a perennial favourite place to visit for outdoors enthusiasts. If you’re visiting the town to ski or do any recreational activities such as mountain biking in the summer months, drop by the Whistler Farmers’ Market to buy a snack to fuel up before your activity or buy a snack after to re-energize.

With as many as 90 vendors on busy weekends in the summer, the Whistler Farmers’ Market is one of the largest markets of its kind within a couple of hours’ drive from Vancouver.

At the market, there are a small number of vendors selling organic vegetables and other farm-fresh produce. There are also numerous artisans selling everything from pottery to clothing, gourmet chocolate and other treats.

When and Where in 2024

The market takes place on the Upper Village Stroll at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, the same venue as last year.

The market runs between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on Sundays from May 19th until October 13th. In addition to taking place every Sunday between these two dates, a number of extra markets also happen on long weekends. In 2024, these extra events include the following:

About the Market

Each week about 60 or so vendors were on site in 2022. This was more than the previous year, but still fewer than in pre-pandemic times when 100 or so vendors participated in total over the course of the season. 2023 numbers and other details were to be confirmed as are 2024’s details.

Merchants each week include those selling farm products and others selling both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There are also vendors serving hot foods, sweets and other treats, as well as specialty food products. There are a couple of pet-related vendors most weeks, as well as a dozen or so artisans selling everything from jewellery to knitted goods to handmade soaps.

What Happened in the Past?

In 2020 the Whistler Farmers’ Market took place on Sundays from July 5th onwards. The market had a smaller number of vendors than in regular years due to COVID-19 (which was the same again in 2021).

In 2020, because of COVID-19, the market happened in the parking lot outside the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. The centre’s address is 4584 Blackcomb Way (so just a couple of blocks from where the market was in previous years). In 2021 the market was held in the parking lot outside the Whistler Racket Club.

A second market takes place on Wednesdays from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm. In addition to the regular Wednesday and Sunday events most years, the Whistler Farmers’ Market also happens on the Saturdays of select holiday weekends from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Also in normal years, additional Saturday and other holiday markets usually take place on Canada Day, the BC Day Long Weekend, Labour Day Weekend and Thanksgiving Weekend.
