Berry Fest in Abbotsford
Abbotsford is the Berry Capital of Canada, or at least that’s what it claims (but the city is probably right). Each year, the community comes together to celebrate Berry Fest with vendors, food trucks and fun attractions. Whether you’re visiting for the fresh berries, local entertainment or lively family fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
A number of organizations are behind the Berry Fest event, including the Downtown Abbotsford BIA and Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival. Other events the food truck festival people are involved with include Chilliwack Ribfest in July, the Salmon Summer Music Festival in August, Our Neck of the Woods in Maple Ridge in September, and the White Rock Night Markets on select Fridays between May and September.
Where and When is Berry Fest
In 2025 Berry Fest took place on Saturday, July 12th, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Downtown Abbotsford. The activities happen near the intersection of Montrose Avenue and Essendene Avenue. That’s just a couple of blocks from Jubilee Park where the Abbotsford Farm & Country Market takes place on Saturdays between May and October. During the festival the streets in the area are filled with the scent of summer berries.
Berry Fest is free to attend and the event welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Families, friends, and newcomers are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy a full day of celebrations. With entertainment around every corner, Berry Fest offers lots of activities for everyone to enjoy.
See the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival‘s website for more details.
What to Expect at Berry Fest
The street festival features live music, market vendors, food trucks and berry-themed activities throughout the day. Carnival rides and kids’ activities make the festival lively and fun for families. In addition, local berry vendor booths offer fresh berries picked that same day.
New for 2025, the event included the Calm Corner. It’s a quiet space down Steam Alley. There’s also a new Skate Park zone on Matt Peter’s Lane with skateboarding demonstrations and riding. Additionally, there is free face painting, the Fun Gym Bus, Tubs of Fun and Berry’s Backyard. So, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, but especially for young families and children.
A highlight of the day is the Berry Fest Pie Bake Off. It’s open to all baking enthusiasts who want to show off their homemade pie creations. The friendly competition celebrates community spirit, local talent and the perfect berry pie.
The pie eating contests for kids and adults are crowd favourites. They are playful events that bring big laughs to everyone watching and participating. Berry Fest is a fun summer tradition full of local flavour.
