This article has information about the Positively Petite miniature exhibition, two other exhibitions happening at the same time, the centre’s Holiday Artisan Shop, and the opening reception for it all.

About the Positively Petite Miniature Exhibition

Been looking for something small to lighten up the house, or a cute gift for a friend? Positively Petite might just have something to offer. At this exhibition, the articles don’t just depict small things. The pieces themselves are all tiny as well!

Positively Petite is an exhibition with both 2D and 3D pieces, and it supports local programs and artists. All sales at the show support the artists and the programs offered by Place des Arts.

Flora, Fauna, and the Changing Year by Ming Bin Huang

Traditional Chinese brush painting merges with the birds and flowers of British Columbia. Enjoy the blend of Eastern traditions with Western scenes.

This exhibit is open from October 30th until December 17th. Click Flora, Fauna, and the Changing Year to learn more about it.

The Print and The Thread by Sivan Baron

This exhibit is created by Sivan Baron. Enjoy images of animals, plants and everyday scenes on linocut prints and hand embroidery. Merging the two styles of art emphasize the contrasts between flat and smooth and 3-dimensional pieces.

Click The Print and The Thread to learn more about this exhibition, which is also open from October 30th to December 17th in 2026.

Positively Petite Opening Reception

In November each year there is an opening reception for the Positively Petite art exhibition which features food, music and a chance to meet some of the artists. After that, from mid-November until just before Christmas, the art centre is open for people to drop by and see a wide variety of art on display. Admission to both the reception and then to see the art in the following weeks is free.

The opening reception marks the start of Positively Petite miniature exhibition, but also the start of a couple of other art exhibitions and the beginning of the season for the centre’s Holiday Artisan Shop. In 2026 the reception takes place on November 13th from 7pm to 9pm.

Holiday Artisan Market

While the artwork is arguably the highlight of the exhibitions, there is also the artisan market at the venue. For some, that’s actually what they go for.

The Artisan Shop is where you’ll find hand-made kitchenware, accessories, beauty and other products throughout the year. During November and December they also offer the Holiday Artisan Market which features all sorts of holiday-themed treasures that make great gifts and souvenirs.

The Holiday Artisan Shop runs from November 12th to December 17th in 2026.

See the placedesarts.ca website for more details about the Holiday Artisan Market.
