Canada Day Concert in White Rock

Some of Metro Vancouver’s finest July 1st celebrations include the music, kids’ activities and fireworks at the Canada Day by the Bay event in White Rock.

White Rock’s Canada Day celebrations were held online in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022 in-person celebrations happened at Memorial Park Plaza on July 1st. Canada Day by the Bay returned to Memorial Park and the White Rock Waterfront on Saturday, July 1st in 2023. Canada Day festivities happen again on Monday, July 1st in 2024.

White Rock’s Canada Day by the Bay

Canada Day by the Bay is an annual event in White Rock that takes place along the waterfront between 12:00 pm and 10:00 pm on July 1st.

Highlights of the family-friendly celebrations include a vendor market along the promenade as well as free concerts and family-friendly activities all day. In previous years, the celebrations also featured fireworks at dusk. There were no fireworks at the event in 2022. The fireworks did return in 2023!

White Rock Canada Day Activities

The Canada Day festivities in White Rock include the following:

Pancake Breakfast

The July 1st festivities begin in the morning with a pancake breakfast presented by the Rotary Club of White Rock. It takes place at Bayview Park from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The breakfast costs $10 for children ages 9 and under, and $15 for everyone else.

Kid Zone Activities

The Kid Zone offers child-focused things to do. Activities include face painting and glitter tattoos. There’s also a variety of beach games and an obstacle course. The Kid Zone was open from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm last year.

Performances on the Memorial Park Stage

Live entertainment takes place on the Memorial Park Stage. The performances ran between 12:00 pm and 10:00 pm in 2023. Performers included Ten Souljers, Luv Randhawa, Raincity, and many more. The full entertainment schedule is further below.

Promenade Vendor Market

Along White Rock’s waterfront promenade there’s a market. It usually has over 80 vendors selling everything from Canada Day souvenirs to refreshments and artisan products of all kinds.

Evening Fireworks

Canada Day by the Bay finishes with fireworks most years, and blast-off is at around 10:15 pm. They usually take place just east of the pier and places to watch from include anywhere along the waterfront. Unfortunately, the fireworks did not happen in 2023 and it’s unclear if they happen this year.

Tips & Advice

Here are some suggestions on how to make the most of your time at the Canada Day by the Bay event:

TIP #1: Take a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. You might also want to take a water bottle, your swim suit, towel, sunglasses, hat and lots of sunscreen. It can get hot at the beach!

TIP #2: Parking is always a huge challenge, so take public transit if you can (recognizing that White Rock isn’t terribly accessible without a car from other parts of the Lower Mainland). In past years, there has been a free shuttle service to and from various locations within White Rock between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm. This may or may not have happened in 2023 and it’s to be confirmed if this service is available in 2024.
