The Chilliwack Coliseum in Chilliwack

Open since 2004, the Chilliwack Coliseum (formerly known as Prospera Centre up until 2019) is a multi-purpose facility located at 45323 Hodgins Avenue in the City of Chilliwack. The building is about 100,000 square feet in size. It serves as the home of the Chilliwack Chiefs British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) ice hockey team.

The venue features two NHL-sized rinks with different seating capacities. One arena is used for big events. It seats 5,000 people during sports games and competitions, and up to 6,000 people for concerts and other large events. Meanwhile, the smaller arena is open for community ice skating and drop-in activities with about 300 seats for spectators.

In addition, Chilliwack Coliseum has hosted numerous concerts over the years. Some of the notables who’ve rocked the venue include, Alice Cooper, George Jones, Jann Arden and Flo Rida. Sports greats have also made an appearance at the Chilliwack Coliseum. Champion figure skaters Ekaterina Gordeeva, Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko have hit the ice during a Celebration on Ice figure skating show. As well, the venue has starred in TV commercials and movies where on-ice scenes are required for shooting.

If you’re planning to spend a day or two in Chilliwack while attending a sports event or concert at the Chilliwack Coliseum, also consider visiting some nearby attractions. These can include the very popular Cultus Lake, which is about 11 kilometres south of the Chilliwack River, or Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park, located on the Trans-Canada Highway. Both outdoor locations are an excellent way to spend time in nature while hiking trails, picknicking or admiring stunning views.

Meanwhile, for bird lovers, there’s the nearby Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve at 5200 Sumas Prairie Road. Here you can enjoy quiet time in nature while at the same time admiring various bird species who call this sanctuary their home.
