Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta features workshops and performances designed for children in Richmond. It’s one of several Carnaval del Sol-related events in July.
The main Carnaval del Sol event is a big Latin Festival at Jonathan Rogers Park in Vancouver. In 2026 the main festival took place on July 10th to 12th. The Chiquitzin Kids Plaza Fiesta, meanwhile, happened in Richmond on July 25th. Another event to look forward to later in the summer is Carnavalito on the Road, which takes place in Langley on September 6th.

Carnaval del Sol’s Chiquitzin Kids Plaza Fiesta
The Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta is a smaller event with a focus on young children and their families. Admission is free, and so is the live entertainment. You have to pay for most of the other activities, however, like the crafts activities and some of the games. In 2026 a single activity cost $5, but you could buy a full pass that included all five activities for $15.
The Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta celebrates creativity and connection. It’s an outdoor event designed especially for children and families. The mini summer festival brings together culture, music, dance and hands-on activities for an afternoon of fun. Whether your child loves performing, crafting or simply playing, there’s something for kids of all ages to enjoy at this community celebration. The focus, however, is on younger children (i.e., not older youth or teenagers).
Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta is related to Carnaval del Sol, the biggest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest. Both events celebrate Latin culture with music, food, dance and fun for all ages.

Where and When
In 2026 the Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta ran from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. It took place on Saturday, July 25th.
The same as the year before, the event was held at the Thompson Community Centre which is located at 5151 Granville Avenue in Richmond’s Thompson/Burnett Community Park. In previous years the event has also happened at Brentwood Mall in Burnaby, although not this year.
Families can arrive early, bring picnic blankets and enjoy various activities in the park. The event is by donation to attend and open to those of all backgrounds.
