WinterFest features special activities including scavenger hunts and the Cloverdale Christmas Tree Festival at the Museum of Surrey. Admission is free.
Last year the festival ran from November 22nd until December 20th. It will likely happen around the same time again in 2026.
TIP: In addition to the festive Christmas tree decorations, the Museum of Surrey also has a new, temporary exhibit about Canada’s national sport. Our Connection to Hockey features all kinds of displays and interactive activities from October 2025 until April 2026. It’s very interesting! You should check it out, especially if you have kids or friends and family who are hockey fans!

WinterFest at the Museum of Surrey in 2025
A Christmas-themed event takes place every year at the Museum of Surrey (MOS). It’s a great museum and admission is free. During the Christmas holiday season the museum typically gets decorated with ornaments, special displays and over 30 Christmas trees. There are also special scavenger hunts and other activities to enjoy.
In the past the event was called the Cloverdale Christmas Tree Festival. Now, the Cloverdale Christmas Tree Festival is simply one of the various things to see and do at WinterFest at the MOS.
TIP: In 2025 the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival happened on November 22nd and 23rd. That’s also a great event. If you go to that event this year, but sure to also drop by the museum in Cloverdale.
What to See at WinterFest
The decorations stay up for the duration of the festival. That includes around 36 Christmas trees. Local businesses and community organizations decorate the trees, and visitors to the museum can vote for their favourites. Everyone who votes is entered in a draw to win a prize.
WinterFest at MOS has a few purposes. A couple are to make the museum look festive and help locals celebrate the season. In addition to being fun and pretty, however, the festival is a fundraising event. Visitors to the museum are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food product or a new toy. Items collected benefit a local charity.
