The Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble

The Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble have been performing together since the late 1980s. At the time, they were the first professional Chinese music organization in the country!

The group now consists of about ten different musicians. They are masters of traditional instruments including Chinese flutes, guitars, banjos and lute.

The Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble puts on a variety of performances, sharing ancient melodies passed down through generations as well as developing new music for traditional Chinese instruments. In fact, they have even been on international tours, bridging cultures all over the world. The ensemble also performs at local events in Metro Vancouver.

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, the group hosts a couple of local concerts in May. Continue reading below for more information about the performances, or visit the Chinese Music Vancouver website for full details.
