Known for its gay nightlife and located in one of North America’s most LGBTQ-friendly neighbourhoods, Celebrities is a popular Vancouver nightclub.
Celebrities is an inclusive place where everyone is welcome. The club hosts all kinds of events over the course of the year, but especially during the Vancouver Pride Festival season in late July and early August.

Vancouver’s Celebrities Nightclub
Celebrities Nightclub is a fixture in Vancouver’s downtown party scene. These days, the club hosts a variety of late night events, but the venue has a long history and is in fact a recognized Vancouver Heritage Building!
The building was built over a century ago as one of the first dance halls in the city. Known as both Lester Court and Lester Dancing Academy in its early days, the venue has seen a number of transformations over its history.
Between the 1940s and 70s the building was renamed and reshaped into a number of different clubs. First there was the Embassy Ballroom, then Dante’s Inferno, then Retinal Circus, and then briefly a strip club before the venue settled down as Celebrities Nightclub in the 1970s.
Celebrities is known for being one of the city’s more progressive clubs. In decades past it was promoted as a “gay club”, and while there are still plenty of LGBTQ+ events held there, that’s not the sole focus nowadays.
VANCOUVER PRIDE BOAT PARTY
Another fun way to celebrate the Vancouver Pride Festival season in 2024 is at the Vancouver Pride Boat Party with Vancouver Boat Parties on August 4th.
Location and Hours
Celebrities Nightclub’s address is 1022 Davie Street. It’s in a heritage building just a short distance from Burrard Street. The nightclub is part of Davie Village in the West End.
The club is usually open four days a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. As of the last time we checked, it was open from 9:30 pm to 3:00 am on Tuesdays and from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am on the other three days. It’s a late night party place!
There are sometimes special events on Wednesdays and Sundays but those aren’t too common. Most of the time the venue is only open half the week.
Regular Event Nights
As of the summer of 2024, there are three weekly event series at Celebrities. They are Celebs Tuesday, KPOP Thursdays and Playhouse Saturdays.
Going to the club late on a Tuesday night might not feel as natural as going out on the weekend, but Celebrities has Tuesday as one of its signature nights. The weekly event features a rotating cast of DJs and the place usually gets pretty full!
Thursdays are all about KPOP music and the bar menu features Soju drink specials as well. There’s mostly pop and EDM music on these nights, but sometimes some special hip-hop nights as well. Playhouse Saturdays feature a different DJ or other music artist each week.
REALLY GAY WALKING TOURS
Another interesting and fun activity to do in Vancouver’s West End is to go on a Really Gay Walking Tour with Forbidden Vancouver. On the tour you’ll learn about the history of Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ community and hear stories about police raids, Celebrities Nightclub, and other interesting things. The tours are highly recommended, as are other tours that Forbidden Vancouver offers elsewhere in the city.
Other Information
For more information about the venue, visit the Celebrities Nightclub website.
If you like live music, another venue you might want to check out is Guilt & Company in Gastown. It’s the only place in Vancouver that has one or two bands playing almost every night of the year.
