March 2026 Highlights
March is the month of St. Patrick’s Day and Spring Break school holidays. March is also the start of the spring flower and cherry blossom seasons, and a popular time for spring skiing (in years with enough snow). The Persian New Year, or Nowruz or Norooz, also happens in mid-March.
Major events that take place this month include the Festival du Bois francophone festival in Coquitlam and Vancouver International Auto Show at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The Vancouver International Wine Festival happens in early March. There is also the Monster Jam monster truck event, and Indigenous events like Hoobiyee at the PNE Forum and Coastal First Nations Dance Festival.
Other events in March are the BC Bike Show, Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show, and night-club style events out on the water with Vancouver Boat Parties. This year there is a Holi Fest Bollywood Cruise and a St. Patrick’s Day Boat Party. In 2026 there is also the Sea to Sky Model Train & Hobby Show at the Railway Museum of BC in Squamish. Running events in March include the Vancouver Chocolate Run and Shamrock’n Race.
Speaking of shamrocks, March is the month of St. Patrick’s Day. Related events on or around March 17th include the CelticFest series of events, parties at nightclubs, and a concert with the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir.
Rainy Day Activities in March
March is typically yet another rainier-than-average month. For that reason, indoor venues are great places to visit. For people looking for fun, there are virtual reality game centres like Zero Latency. At them you can battle zombies and aliens at locations in Vancouver and Langley.
There are also museums like the Chinese Canadian Museum, Vancouver Maritime Museum and Britannia Mine (the latter of which is part outdoors, but also has tons of things to see indoors as well as underground). The multidimensional films at Flyover at Canada Place are also great to see on days with rainy weather. Fun indoor games to play include The Case of the Hotel Detective and The Legend of the Gastown Gold with Vancouver Mysteries.
March is a popular time to see plays and concerts. For a list of what to see, check out our article about Shows & Entertainment.
Other Outdoor Activities in March
Other fun activities to do in March are outdoor adventure games with Vancouver Mysteries and walking tours with Forbidden Vancouver. The ropes courses at WildPlay in Maple Ridge are open on weekends. There are also snow sports at Lower Mainland Ski Hills (weather and snow conditions permitting).
