Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta features workshops and performances designed for children in Richmond. It’s one of several Carnaval del Sol-related events in July.
The main Carnaval del Sol event is a big Latin Festival at Jonathan Rogers Park in Vancouver. In 2026 the main festival takes place on July 10th to 12th. The Chiquitzin Kids Plaza Fiesta, meanwhile, happens in Richmond on July 25th.

Carnaval del Sol’s Chiquitzin Kids Plaza Fiesta
Celebrate creativity and connection at the Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta, a joyful outdoor event designed especially for children and families. This lively summer festival brings together culture, music, dance and hands-on activities for an afternoon of fun. Whether your child loves performing, crafting or simply playing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this community celebration.
Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta is related to Carnaval del Sol, the biggest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest. Both events celebrate Latin culture with music, food, dance and fun for all ages.
Where and When
In 2026 the Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta runs from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 25th. The event is held at the Thompson Community Centre which is located at 5151 Granville Avenue in Richmond’s Thompson/Burnett Community Park. In past years the event has also happened at Brentwood Mall in Burnaby, although not this year.
Families can arrive early, bring picnic blankets and enjoy various activities in the park. The event is by donation to attend and open to those of all backgrounds.

What to Expect
At the Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta, families can enjoy a variety of fun and interactive activities. Live shows and performances take place throughout the event including music, dancing and magic shows.
Children can also take part in hands-on arts and crafts workshops where they can create, build and explore their imaginations. Most activities are free, with a small materials fee for some. Families can dress up and take pictures in a photo booth, creating keepsakes to remember the day.
Note: Although related to Carnaval del Sol, the Latin festival, the Chiquitzin Kids Fiesta in 2026 includes events and activities in both Spanish and French, plus of course English.
