The Fiji Festival is an annual event that takes place in Burnaby. It’s a family-friendly festival that brings communities together and showcases Fijian culture.
The first edition of the festival took place in 1999. It has been happening most years since then, and 2024 was no exception. The one-day event is open to the public. Admission is free!
The Fiji Festival features traditional music and dance performances, along with food vendors, kid-friendly activities, and other things to see and do.
When and Where
In 2024 the Fiji Festival took place on Saturday, July 13th. It usually starts at 10:00 am and ends at around 7:00 pm.
The event is held at Swangard Stadium at 6100 Boundary Road in Burnaby. It’s one part of Central Park, which is full of nature trails and other sports facilities.
Event Activities at the Fiji Festival
The Fiji Festival offers a variety of festivities for all ages. It’s also a good way to learn about a number of cultures, including Fijian traditions.
At the event there are classical and bhangra dances to enjoy including performances by the Jai Fiji Dance Academy. There’s also a fashion show with beautiful colours. In addition to the live entertainment, folks are welcome to participate in soccer tournaments on the venue’s grass field. There’s also a kids zone with a number of activities for children.
Expect to see food vendors selling different types of cuisine. For adults, there’s a beer garden serving alcoholic beverages on site. Another highlight of the festival is the raffle draw. Folks in attendance have the chance to win two round-trip flights to Fiji with Fiji Airways!
