In past years, pre-COVID, the Pinoy Fiesta took place at Vancouver’s Memorial South Park in August. In 2023, however, the Pinoy Festival happened at Burnaby Civic Plaza on June 24th. The date for the festival in 2024 is to be confirmed.

Pinoy Festival in Burnaby
The Pinoy Fiesta is one of a couple of major Filipino events in the Lower Mainland each year. The other main festival celebrating Filipino culture is the Philippine Days Festival which takes place in North Vancouver in June.
The Philippine Days Festival on the North Shore claims to be “British Columbia’s biggest celebration of Philippine Arts and Cultural Heritage.” The Pinoy Fiesta, meanwhile, used to claim to be “the most awaited and biggest Filipino cultural event in Canada.”
Both of the above events are fairly big and draw large crowds of Vancouver Filipino residents. That’s not surprising given how many people of Filipino decent live in the Lower Mainland! The majority of British Columbia’s 170,000+ Filipino population, and around 20% of all Filipinos in Canada, live in Metro Vancouver! They bring so much to the community, including their culture, foods and hard work!
Where and When
The Pinoy Fiesta used to take place in late August at Memorial South Park which is located at 5955 Ross Street in Vancouver. The park is close to Mountain View Cemetery and just a five-minute drive southeast of Queen Elizabeth Park.
In 2019 the event took place on Sunday, August 25th. The Pinoy Fiesta was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2022 the United Filipino Canadian Associations in British Columbia (UFCABC) hosted a similar festival on June 18th. It ran from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm outside the Vancouver Art Gallery at 750 Hornby Street. The same organization hosted a Pinoy Festival in 2023 as well, but at a different location. This past year’s celebration happened at Burnaby Civic Square, located at 6100 Willingdon Avenue. The event ran from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 24th, 2023.
What to Expect
At the Pinoy Fiesta you can expect to see dozens of community information booths and hundreds if not thousands of Filipinos. During the day there is live entertainment on the main stage. There are also various exhibits and food vendors.
The 2023 Pinoy Festival in Burnaby (hosted by the UFCABC) featureed cultural performances, live music, a film screening, raffle draws and more. Admission to the event is free.
