Vancouver’s Flyover at Canada Place Multidimensional Film Attraction

Flyover at Christmas

A film adventure like no other, Flyover is an amazing multi-dimensional theatre flying experience at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver.

The attraction’s signature film is Awaken Canada which shows daily. The film takes passengers all across the country from both coasts on the east and west up to the Arctic in the north. Another special film showing in December at the theatre is Soar With Santa.

At other times of the year there are also films about the Canadian Rockies, the United States in general, America’s Western States and Chicago, plus special seasonal features with Christmas and Halloween themes.

For tickets and full details about what’s showing at the theatre, see the Flyover website.

Flyover Theatre Experience at Canada Place

Flyover is an exciting attraction located on the west promenade deck of Canada Place. Its physical address is 999 Canada Place in downtown Vancouver. It used to be called Flyover Canada. However, a year or so ago it changed its name to just Flyover. The name change better reflects films about lots of different places, not just Canada.

The entire Flyover experience takes about 25 minutes. It includes a short introductory pre-show film presentation plus a feature-flying movie presentation. There is usually a film option where you can fly across Canada and see this country from coast to coast to coast. There is also usually a second film choice, which you can see just on its own or in addition to the film about Canada, as a double feature.

Looking for an out-of-the-ordinary flying theatre experience? You’ll find it at Flyover at Canada Place!

See below for general information about Flyover. Or click HowlOver Canada for information about the attraction in October, or Soar With Santa for details about the attraction during the winter holidays.

The Flyover Canada Experience

The full Flyover experience lasts for about 25 minutes and includes a short pre-show film. After seeing the first short show, guests walk to the next stage, where they sit down and buckle up in a row, ready for the main film or films to begin.

In addition to the regular multi-dimensional film experience about Canada, the attraction sometimes features additional shows too. At different times of the year there might be a special presentation about the United States, Chicago, Iceland or some other interesting land, or a special seasonal feature including ones with a Christmas or Halloween theme.

What to Expect

During the main show, when the lights go off, the floor moves away and participants are left hanging over the theatre screen. It feels like being in a giant open-windowed silent helicopter. It’s quite exciting.

As the show takes spectators over different scenes, the row of seats moves with the film. The wind, mist and smells of the country follow the passengers too.

The Flyover film itself lasts for about eight minutes and covers Canada from the Arctic, to the Maritimes in the Atlantic, to Vancouver and the Pacific. Flyover offers one of Vancouver’s most unique and exciting experiences. We highly recommend it!

(Note: The projector system at Flyover got a major upgrade in 2024. That means the resolution of the films is now better than ever!)

Hours of Operation

Flyover is open from around 10:00 am until between 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm depending on the season. Shows run about once every 15 to 20 minutes.

Admission at Flyover at Canada Place

The cost of admission to Flyover varies depending on a number of factors including your age and both when and how you buy your tickets.

Admission rates for adults paying online vary by about $5 or so. Tickets for weekdays far in advance usually cost the least, whereas tickets at the gate on holidays usually cost the most. Children ages 15 and under cost about $10 less than adults.

The average prices for tickets purchased online are listed below. Depending on the date, days expected to be busy may cost a couple of dollars more and days expected to be quieter may cost $2 or $3 less. Online ticket prices when we last checked in December 2025 were the following:

  • Adults: $26 to $38 online when bought in advance
  • Children (up to age 15): $16 to $28 online

Important note: Because of seatbelt and ride-safety requirements, visitors to Flyover must be at least 40 inches (or 102 cm) tall. If you or your child is shorter than that, don’t purchase a ticket online.

Who is Flyover at Canada Place for?

Flyover is a perfect attraction for anyone over 102 cm or 40 inches tall who isn’t pregnant, not afraid of heights, not subject to motion sickness, and looking for around 30 minutes of exciting and memorable entertainment. It’s a fun experience for almost everyone and highly recommended!

The oldest participant on the ride to date has been 104 years old! When we went for the first time years ago we took two children, ages 10 and 12. What were their comments? “That was awesome! That was way better than a regular movie!” In short, they loved it and couldn’t wait to do it again. We’ve been back many times since!

Seasonal Events at Flyover Canada

Flyover offers a number of seasonal “extras” at various times of the year.

In some cases it’s just a little touch, like at Easter when guests are greeted by the Easter Bunny with a chocolate egg at the end of the show (which happens some years).

At other times, like at Halloween and Christmas, the Flyover venue gets decorated. The pre-show also has a distinct holiday season-theme, and characters like a witch or Santa Claus make cameo appearances in the main film.

Special Shows at Flyover at Canada Place

In addition to the regular Flyover film about Canada, from time to time the venue features a second and different film. Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies, for example, offers stunning views of Jasper, Banff and Yoho national parks. There is also Wonders of the American West, Believe Chicago, and Legendary Iceland: Landscapes and Lore. There is also Flyover America, which is just like the multi-dimensional film about Canada, but with American places of interest and scenery.

TIP #4: If you’ve been to Flyover before and want to go again, check out one of its special seasonal shows. We’ve seen Flyover Iceland, Flyover America, and both the Halloween and Christmas-themed shows, plus all the others. And we’ve loved them all! They are exciting, educational and entertaining.

TIP #5: Pursuit, the company that operates Flyover, has another attraction in BC’s interior. Located in Golden, BC, Golden Skybridge is the highest suspension bridge in Canada! The next time you’re on your way to Banff or Yoho National Park, be sure to check it out!
