Vancouver’s Cypress Ski Hill celebrates New Year’s Eve on December 31st with family-friendly activities. It’s not a huge event, but it is free for pass holders.
The resort’s annual New Year’s Eve celebrations happen at Cypress on December 31st in 2025. The event features DJ music with LED lights, lasers and fog machines on the 3 Peaks Patio. In past years the event has also included fireworks, but not, apparently, in 2025.
Although Cypress might not have fireworks on December 31st this year, both Grouse Mountain and Sasquatch Mountain do.
New Year’s Eve at Cypress Ski Hill
Season’s pass members and day ticket holders can usually enjoy marshmallow s’mores, bonfires, and a bit of entertainment on the evening of December 31st at Cypress Mountain‘s New Year’s Eve festivities. Compared to parties elsewhere, it’s a pretty small event, but it’s free and fun (and in past years it has finished with fireworks).
In 2025 the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Cypress begin at 5:00 pm and run until 8:00 pm. The event includes DJ music and live entertainment on the mountain’s patio. There are also food and drink specials available throughout the evening. We are pretty sure there were going to be fireworks, but details about that were no longer available when we checked a few days before the event, so we’re guessing they were cancelled.
New Year’s Eve isn’t the only day of the year that Cypress hosts an evening with free fireworks. Most years over the Family Day Weekend in February there is a similar event, although whether that will be the case or not in 2026 is to be determined.
Who Can Attend
The New Year’s Eve celebrations at Cypress are typically only for paying “ski pass” and “day-ticket-holding” guests. It’s a free event, though, and the main festivities are held just outside the chalet.

Below is a short video clip showing what happens at Cypress Mountain before the fireworks on New Year’s Eve. As you’ll see, it’s a small event, but both free and fun.
Other New Year’s Events in Metro Vancouver
Other places in the Lower Mainland have New Year’s Eve events, including at other ski hills.
Grouse Mountain, as an example, hosts an evening of family-friendly activities. Mt. Seymour, meanwhile, used to host its Family First Night which featured all kinds of live entertainment as well as snowshoeing, night tubing, sledding and fireworks. Unfortunately, that no longer happens. Sasquatch Ski Resort in the Fraser Valley, however, does have special events that include fireworks.
