Maple Ridge’s Car Free Day and Our Neck of the Woods Event

Maple Ridge Car Free Day

Maple Ridge Car Free Day is one of several car free-themed events in Metro Vancouver.

Maple Ridge Car Free Day takes place on September 5th in 2026 as part of the city’s big Our Neck of the Woods celebration. It’s an awesome event and highly recommended.

Our Neck of the Woods Car Free Day Event

Featuring a variety of vendors and activities, in 2026 the city’s Our Neck of the Woods event is on Saturday, September 5th. The Car Free Zone area will likely be open from 2:00 until 10:00 pm, but with exact details to be confirmed. (Note: Last year the Car Free Zone shut down a few hours before the rest of the Our Neck of the Woods festivities ended. There is still a chance they might again this year too.)

Our Neck of the Woods happens in Memorial Peace Park and the downtown area. Sections of 224th Street, McIntosh Avenue and 119th Avenue in downtown Maple Ridge transform into a massive street party during the event. The area is, therefore, closed to traffic.

What to Expect

Maple Ridge’s Our Neck of the Woods event features a variety of things to do for people of all ages.

Last year there was the Haney Farmers’ Market at Memorial Peace Park from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. The main festivities then ran from 12:00 pm onwards. 2026 will likely be the same.

Last year’s event featured rock climbing, axe throwing and ziplining opportunities. There were also other family-friendly activities as well as food trucks. Adults were able to enjoy local craft beers and other beverages too, including ones from Stanley Park Brewing, Foamers’ Folly Brewing, The Patch Brewing and Switchback Brewing.

Tips & Advice

The following tips are good to know before going to the next Car Free Day event.

TIP #1: Consider taking public transit as it’s a “car free” day. Cycling is another good option, especially since there’s a free Bike Valet at the event.

TIP #2: If you plan to watch the live entertainment on the main, it’s a good idea to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. Also, be sure to get there early as capacity is limited.

TIP #3: If you are looking for outdoor fun and adventure, a great place to check out in Maple Ridge is WildPlay Element Park. That’s where you’ll find ropes courses, ziplines, axe-throwing and other fun activities. Consider checking it out the next time you’re in Maple Ridge.
