Pitt Meadows Day Event
Pitt Meadows Day is a long-running tradition that has been taking place since 1938. Over the last few decades it has grown into the community’s largest event.
The celebration of the city brings folks from Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and other parts of the Lower Mainland together for a fun day of festivities. It’s an event that Pitt Meadows residents look forward to each year.
2023 marks the 82nd annual Pitt Meadows Day event. In previous years the event was organized by the Pitt Meadows Day Society. The same as 2022, this year’s celebrations have been planned by the City of Pitt Meadows itself.
The event takes place on the first Saturday of June which is June 3rd in 2023. Most of the activities take place in and around Harris Road Park. The venue’s address is 12474 Lougheed Highway in Pitt Meadows.
This year’s activities begin at 8:00 am and continue until 10:00 pm. As always, Pitt Meadows Day is free to attend.
Activities and What to Expect
In 2020 and 2021 Pitt Meadows Day took place in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were online markets, community booths, craft ideas and other activities. Pitt Meadows Day returned to its usual in-person format in 2022.
Organizers of the 2023 event anticipate large crowds of people now that COVID-19 restrictions have lifted. Expect to see lots of families participating in the celebrations and various activities.
Morning Activities
Pitt Meadows Day in 2023 begins with the Lion’s Pancake Breakfast in the morning. The cost per person in 2023 is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 11 and under. Breakfast is at Heritage Hall at 12460 Harris Road.
After the breakfast is when the free activities begin, starting with the parade at about 11:00 am. The parade happens along a section of Harris Road which is closed from the morning. Expect to see people gathered on the sidewalks watching parade floats and other entries passing by.
Afternoon and Evening Activities
Harris Road Park is where you’ll find the Kids’ Zone with fun activities made for children in the afternoon. The park is also where the artisan market and field exhibitors are, along with a stage for live entertainment.
Performers in 2023 include Danielle Ryan, Almost Famous, Kadooh and more. A number of different food trucks are also on site serving everything from lemonade and ice cream to pizza and fish and chips. The food trucks are located inside the family-friendly beverage garden which is ideal for folks looking to grab a bite to eat and a drink and kick back listening to great music.
Adults entering the beverage garden are given wristbands and can purchase alcohol until the evening. Kids and teens can buy a variety of other drinks in the same section of the event too.
In addition to the pancake breakfast, Heritage Hall also hosts a barbeque dinner between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. In 2023 the food costs $15 per person regardless of age.
Pitt Meadows Day usually concludes with a fireworks display at 10:00 pm at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park at 11431 Bonson Road. However, the fireworks have been cancelled in 2023 due to provincial restrictions.
