North Delta Family Day and Parade

North Delta Family Day

The Lions Club of North Delta hosts a Family Day festival and parade at North Delta Community Park on a Sunday in June. It’s a great family-friendly event.

After a two-year hiatus, the festival and parade returned in 2022. It was back again in 2023 and took place on Sunday, June 25th. The event date for 2024 is to be confirmed.

(Note: This past year, unlike in previous years, the parade and festival were organized by the City of Delta. The Lions Club was just hosting the barbecue part of the event.)

North Delta Family Day

Not to be confused with BC Family Day, which is a province-wide holiday in February, the North Delta Family Day event is an annual festival that takes place on a Sunday in the second half of June. The event is put on by the Lions Club of North Delta and it attracts many people.

At North Delta Family Day there is a large parade full of community organization cars and floats, bands and people in costume. After the parade, the festivities continue at North Delta Community Park for the rest of the afternoon.

Family Day Event Location

North Delta Family Day takes place in northeast Delta a short distance southeast of Annacis Island and close to the Surrey border.

The parade usually runs along 112th Street and then 84th Avenue. The festival takes place at North Delta Community Park which is located at 11311 84th Avenue near the George Mackie Library.

North Delta Family Day Parade

Running for almost two hours from start to finish, the North Delta Family Day parade is a fairly large parade. It begins at 11:00 am and finishes at around noon most years.

Parade entries assemble early in the morning at Sands Secondary. The school’s address is 10840 82nd Avenue. Parade entry judging typically happens at 10:00 am.

At 11:00 am the parade officially begins and proceeds north along 112th Street to 84th Avenue. From there it then heads east towards North Delta Community Park before finishing at the corner of 84th Avenue and 114th Street. Crowds line the sidewalks all along the parade route.

Parade participants include local clubs, businesses and various youth and community organizations. There are also marching bands, troupes of cadets, vintage vehicles, clowns and people handing out candy. Unlike many parades, there is no fee for participating organizations.

The Family Day Festival

The North Delta Family Day festival takes place from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm at North Delta Community Park, so right after the parade. At the festival there are normally hamburgers and hot dogs for sale, a face painting station for kids, live entertainment and a small selection of amusement rides. The event’s BBQ is famous for its salmon and chicken dinners.
