Deep Cove Stage Society is a theatre company that puts on plays at the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre in the Village of Deep Cove in North Vancouver.

The next show by Deep Cove Stage is The Play That Goes Wrong. It runs from October 11th until the 26th in 2024. It’s a hilarious comedy about a play where nothing goes according to plan, from collapsing sets to forgotten lines, disappearing props and other theatrical calamities.

Deep Cove Stage Society in North Vancouver

Founded in 1974, Deep Cove Stage Society (DCSS) is a not-for-profit organization that hosts theatre shows in North Vancouver. DCSS is one of two theatre companies that share the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre at 4360 Gallant Avenue in Deep Cove. The other company is First Impressions Theatre. As an organization, DCSS has been entertaining North Shore audiences for around 50 years!

One of Deep Cove Stage Society’s annual productions is Cinderella, which has been a community staple since 1981. The festive show is a British Pantomime that runs during the Christmas season. There are also a couple of other shows to enjoy at other times of the year including One For The Pot in the spring of 2025 and Five Alarm in June. Seating is usually first-come, first-served. The first show in the 2024/25 season is The Play That Goes Wrong.

2024/2025 Season

DCSS puts on shows from autumn to spring most years. Their 2024/2025 season opens on October 10th and runs until June 21st. There are four different productions, each of which shows for about two weeks at a time.

The Play That Goes Wrong

Thursdays to Sundays between October 10th and 26th, 2024

DCSS kicks off their 2024/2025 season with The Play That Goes Wrong. It’s a funny play within a play originally written by Henry Lewis, Henry Shields and Jonathan Sayer. The story is about a murder mystery production that goes awry. This show is directed by Tracy Labrosse and John Cousins.

Tickets for the preview performance on October 10th cost $12 per person. Admission on other days costs $25 for adults and $22 for seniors and students.

The Play That Goes Wrong at Deep Cove Stage

 

Cinderella

Thursdays to Sundays from December 19th to 29th, 2024

Cinderella is the Deep Cove Stage’s annual Christmas show. It’s a Pantomime based on the children’s story. The show tells the tale of a girl who dreams about attending a royal ball. With the help of her Fairy Godmother and other characters, the girl stands up to her stepmother and tries to make her dreams come true. This show is directed by Robert Bockman-Cobban and the choreography is by Jessica Heaven.

In celebration of the DCSS’s 50th anniversary, tickets for this show are “pay what you can”! The minimum amount per person is $5. Larger amounts, however, are greatly appreciated.

One For The Pot

Thursdays to Sundays between March 27th and April 12th, 2025

One For The Pot is a comedy about Hickory Wood trying to prove that he is the only child of a mill owner’s business associate. He hopes is to receive 10,000 pounds, but things get complicated very quickly. Written by Ray Cooney and Tony Hilton, this DCSS play is directed by Kayt Roth.

Tickets cost $22 for students and seniors. Admission for adults is $25 each. The preview performance on March 27th costs just $12 for all ages.

Five Alarm

Thursdays to Sundays from June 5th to 21st, 2025

Five Alarm is a play about Ava Rose and her determination to win a chili cook off. She tries to use her father’s recipe which also helps her learn things about her past. Originally written by Kristen De Silva, this play is directed by Sandra Medeiros.

The preview show happens on June 5th. Tickets cost $12 each. Admission on other days is $25 for adults and $22 for students and seniors.
