Park Royal Mall
Originally built around 1950, Park Royal is today one of British Columbia’s largest shopping centres with over 200 stores and close to 1.5 million square feet of space. The land the mall is on is rented from (and belongs to) the local Squamish First Nation.
Where is Park Royal?
The Park Royal Shopping Centre is located along the 700 and 800 blocks of Marine Drive in West Vancouver.
Coming from Vancouver over the Lions Gate Bridge, if you keep left and head west along Marine Drive into West Vancouver you’ll see the mall on both sides of the main road. It stretches all the way from Taylor Way to the edge of Ambleside Park.
About Park Royal Mall
Park Royal is one of, if not the, oldest indoor shopping malls in Canada. You wouldn’t know that by looking at the place though as it has been renovated over the years, including in a major way fairly recently.
The mall is split into three different areas. Park Royal North is on the north side of Marine Drive and includes stores like the Bay, London Drugs and the Gap. Park Royal South is the massive facility on the other side of the main road. That’s where you’ll find stores like Staples, Best Buy, Simons, Zara, Winners, Sport Check and Osaka Market.
In addition to the two completely separate north and south indoor sections of the mall, Park Royal also has an outdoor strip mall-style area that’s designed like a cute little village. In the village there are boutique shops as well as major chain stores like Michael’s (for crafts), Home Depot, Whole Foods and Old Navy. There is also even a Tesla car dealership.
As of the time of writing this article, hours of operation at the mall are Monday to Friday from 10 am to 9 pm, Saturdays from 9:30 am to 9 pm, and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm. The hours of individual stores though may vary.
