The Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel

Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place

The Pan Pacific Hotel is a fancy 4.5 star hotel located at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver. It’s also home to the Oceans 999 and Five Sails restaurants.

Vancouver’s Pan Pacific Hotel

Located at 300-999 Canada Place, the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver is a large, modern and luxurious hotel. It is situated right at Canada Place and the cruise ship terminal. As it is on the waterfront, the hotel features sweeping views of Coal Harbour, Burrard Inlet and the North Shore.

This location is highly beneficial for Cruise Ship guests. In fact, the hotel offers a package specifically for cruise passengers including luggage transfer, breakfast and free Wi-Fi. There is even an elevator that connects directly with the cruise ship terminal.

From the outside, the building looks very modern. It is all white and glass, and has a domed roof. On either side of the building you can see where the cruise ships dock. If it is a nice day, we recommend walking all the way to the end of the promenade deck. You get a great view!

Right beside the Pan Pacific there is also Canada Place. Within Canada Place there is the cruise ship terminal, convention facilities and FlyOver Canada (which is a popular tourist attraction and highly recommended).

Hotel Amenities

Within the hotel guests have access to three restaurants/bars, a fitness centre, an outdoor pool and hot tub, an indoor sauna and a spa. Two of the hotel’s restaurants – Oceans 999 and the Five Sails – are quite highly rated. The bar also has a patio where you can take in the ocean views.

Dogs are welcome at the hotel for an additional fee with a maximum of two pets per room.

The last time we checked, parking cost about $56 or so per night for valet service (plus tip) or $50 for self-serve parking. Short-term visitor self-parking is also available at around $4 per half hour. (Note: Rates are subject to change.)

Pan Pacific Restaurants

The Pan Pacific Hotel has a couple of main restaurants. Oceans 999 is a fancy place specializing in West Coast cuisine including seafood, pastas, steaks and Asian-influenced dishes. It seats up to 500 people and the dress code is smart casual.

Oceans 999 is famous for its Sunday brunches. They are impressive, especially at Easter and on Mother’s Day.

Five Sails, the second restaurant, is about half the size of Oceans 999 but even fancier. It has won a number of awards and its menu features dishes like fresh Fraser Valley duck and Pacific halibut. Here again the dress code is smart casual.

Tips & Advice

Below are some suggestions and extra information to help you make the most of your stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel.

TIP #1: StayVancouverHotels.com is a website that promotes downtown Vancouver hotels. It offers competitive prices, especially in the slow season, and when you book through them you usually get a bonus gift (like a $25 gift card of some kind). If wanting to book a hotel somewhere in the downtown core of the city, including at the Pan Pacific, then definitely check it out. For details visit StayVancouverHotels.com or read our article about the website.

TIP #2: The Pan Pacific is arguably one of the most conveniently located hotels in Vancouver. It’s next to the cruise ship terminal, a block from the Vancouver Convention Centre, right at Canada Place (and its convention facilities) and only a couple of blocks from Waterfront Station (which connects with the rest of Metro Vancouver via the SeaBus, SkyTrain and West Coast Express train). The hotel is also just a 5-minute walk from the Harbour Air Seaplane terminal.

TIP #3: If planning to go on a cruise departing from Vancouver, then the Pan Pacific is the most convenient hotel to stay at. If taking a cruise and wondering what to do in Vancouver the day before your trip or after you get back, check out our Vancouver Cruise Ship Information and Vancouver Cruise Ship Activities articles.

What to do in the Area Suggestions

TIP #1: If wanting to go for a stroll from the hotel, and you want to do some shopping, Granville is a good street to walk up. It starts just a couple of blocks southeast of the hotel and it’s also where you’ll find Vancouver’s main entertainment district. For quaint buildings, restaurants and souvenir shops, Gastown is just a couple of blocks further east from Granville Street (on the other side of Waterfront Station).

TIP #2: If wanting to go for a stroll, but in an area with views instead of shopping, head west from the hotel along the waterfront towards Coal Harbour and Stanley Park. The seawall goes on for miles and the views of Burrard Inlet, Stanley Park and the North Shore Mountains are beautiful.

TIP #3: Especially if you’re visiting Canada for the first time, or you just want a really fun and convenient Canadian experience, be sure to check out FlyOver Canada. Located right at Canada Place and just a two-minute walk from the hotel, it’s a multi-dimensional film experience that’s one of Vancouver’s most popular attractions.
