More Than A Movie with Kids Up Front
Kids Up Front Vancouver puts on exciting events for children and youth in Metro Vancouver. They provide special experiences for all kids, especially for those facing systemic barriers. One of Kids Up Front Vancouver’s annual events is More Than A Movie.
More Than A Movie is a fun community event at BC Place Stadium for children and their families. At last year’s event, the movie Trolls Band Together played on the stadium’s huge screen, which is actually one of the largest LED displays in the world. The movie of choice for 2025 is to be confirmed as of late February.
Prior to the movie screening, the event also features on field activities including miniature golf, carnival games and face painting. Local sports teams such as the Vancouver Whitecaps and BC Lions run other fun activities at the event, including soccer and football drills. There’s also live music by local bands (often school bands). At last year’s event there were photo opportunities with Star Wars characters and guests had the opportunity to tour the BC Sports Hall of Fame as well.
Vancouver’s Best Places is a proud sponsor of More Than A Movie. For every ticket sold, another is donated to a child via a non-profit agency. Plus, everyone who buys a ticket is normally entered into a draw for three big prizes. There’s also a 50-50 draw where money raised supports the charity and the good work they do.
Event Date and Location
More Than A Movie runs on Sunday, May 4th, 2025. Doors open at noon, which is when the on-field activities began. The film starts later in the afternoon. All activities conclude at about 5:00 pm.
The event is held at BC Place Stadium at 777 Pacific Boulevard in Vancouver. 2025 marks the charity’s fifth event at the sporting venue. BC Place is an impressive building that hosts sports games, large concerts and other special events throughout the year.
