More Than A Movie with Kids Up Front
Kids Up Front Vancouver connects children and youth with exciting events in Metro Vancouver. They provide special experiences for all kids, especially for those facing systemic barriers. One of Kids Up Front Vancouver’s annual events is More Than A Movie.
More Than A Movie is a fun community event at BC Place Stadium for children and their families. The movie this year is the animated Pixar comedy/science-fiction film Hoppers which is about a college student who is able to transfer her mind into a robotic beaver in order to talk to animals and prevent their ecosystem from being destroyed. The film plays on the stadium’s huge screen, which is one of the largest LED displays in the world.
Prior to the movie screening, the event also features on-field activities including carnival games and face painting. Local sports teams such as the Vancouver Whitecaps, Vancouver Bandits and BC Lions run other fun activities at the event, including soccer, basketball and football games. There’s also live music by local youth bands. In addition, there are often photo opportunities with Star Wars characters, and guests can usually tour the BC Sports Hall of Fame at the stadium for free.
As the event is a fundraiser for Kids Up Front Vancouver, there are raffles that adults can enter. Prices in recent years have included things like a round of golf in Pemberton, a Vancouver Canadians jersey and game tickets, a local hotel stay, a family photo session and a Home Depot gift. There’s also a 50/50 draw.
For every ticket sold to the More Than A Movie event, another is donated to a child via a non-profit agency. Plus, everyone who buys a ticket is typically entered into a draw for three big prizes. Vancouver’s Best Places is a proud sponsor of More Than A Movie.

Event Date and Location
In 2026 More Than A Movie happens on Sunday, August 16th. The on-field activities begin around 11:00 or 11:30 am. The film starts later in the afternoon. All activities conclude by around 4:00 or 4:30 pm.
The event is held at BC Place Stadium at 777 Pacific Boulevard in Vancouver. 2026 marks the charity’s sixth event at the sporting venue. BC Place is an impressive building that hosts sports games, large concerts and other special events throughout the year.
Admission Details
Tickets for More Than A Movie can be purchased online. As of early July, general admission tickets are not yet on sale for the 2026 event. In the past the event has cost $15 per person, regardless of age. For families and small groups of friends, packs of four tickets are also usually available for about $50, which works out to around $12.50 per person (plus online fees).
The standard admission includes access to all activities, plus one drink, a hot dog and popcorn.
Remember, Kids Up Front is a great cause. For people feeling generous, there’s also the option to donate tickets you buy back to the charity. If you email the tickets to vancouver@kidsupfront.com, they will be gifted to a deserving recipient, and you’ll get a charitable tax receipt.

About the Movie
The feature movie at the 2026 event is is Hoppers. Released in 2026, it’s an animated comedy/science-fiction film by Pixar. The story is about Mabel Tanaka (Piper Curda) who is a college student that has a deep connection to nature.
When the mayor of her town announces plans to build a road straight through the forest near her grandmother’s old home, Mabel uses a secret scientific program developed by her college professor to inhabit the mind of a robotic beaver. She then attempts to rally the local animal population to prevent their environment from being destroyed.
