Trout Lake Market at John Hendry Park
If you’re looking for a great selection of fresh farm produce and homemade products in a beautiful park, then Trout Lake Farmers Market is one of the best places to be on a Saturday during the summertime.
Trout Lake Times and Location
The Trout Lake Farmers Market takes place at Vancouver’s John Hendry Park. The market sets up shop in the northeast end of the park, not far from the corner of 13th Avenue and Lakewood Drive. It runs from April or May until around the third week of October most years.
Hours of operation are usually from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays between early April and late October.
About the Trout Lake Market
The farmers market at John Hendry Park has been a Vancouver favourite for over 20 years.
What makes it so special? First, it’s one of the Lower Mainland’s biggest markets, which means lots of things to see, buy and sample. There are multiple fresh fruit and vegetable vendors, people selling baked goods, artisans selling local crafts and others selling homemade preserves, among other items.
On a busy day in the summer there can be over 60 vendors and about 2,000 shoppers.
The Trout Lake Farmers Market is also at a great venue. From late spring to early fall, John Hendry Park is a beautiful place to be. The tiny lake is great for walking around and there is a small sandy beach that’s perfect for children and sunbathers. There is also an off-leash area for dogs and a great playground for kids. In short, the market is in a great location.
The Trout Lake Farmers Market is full of awesome, friendly vendors selling fresh produce and handmade products. Farmers come in from the Fraser Valley and other regions with fresh-picked fruits, berries and vegetables, and artisans sell their own products. The market is a great place to chat with vendors and hear their stories.
Parking at the Farmers Market
Parking at the Trout Lake Farmers Market isn’t great. If you can, do your part to be environmentally responsible and take public transit. Otherwise, for parking, try to find a spot at the Trout Lake Community Centre towards the southwest end of the park and walk down to the market.
There is also street parking along Lakeview Drive and other nearby roads, although be sure not to park in a “residential parking only” area.
