Fraser Valley Classic Car Show in 2024

Classic Car in a Chilliwack Park

Serving as a fundraiser for Chilliwack General Hospital, the Fraser Valley Classic Car Show is a community event where you can see some cool cars.

In 2023 the Fraser Valley Classic Car Show was going to happen on Sunday, June 11th, but then it got cancelled. It is happening in 2024, however. This year’s date is June 9th.

The Fraser Valley Classic Car Show isn’t the largest Car Show in the Lower Mainland, but is still a fairly big event (in years when it happens). The 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to COVD-19. The event returned in 2022, but was then cancelled again in 2023. In 2024 it happens on Sunday, June 9th.

Anyone can enter the classic vehicle in the show. The only requirement is that their car is from the 20th century. The cost to enter in past years has been a $10 donation to the Chilliwack General Hospital. You can also register and donate $15 on the day of the event. Admission to the event for spectators is by donation. All proceeds go to the hospital’s charitable foundation.

Where and When is the Car Show

The car show happens at the University of Fraser Valley’s Chilliwack campus near the intersection of Caen Avenue and Sicily Road. The venue is just a couple of blocks north of Vedder Park. It’s also just a block or so from the Justice Institute of BC which is located at 5470 Dieppe Street.

The event takes place in the parking lot and on the lawns of the nearby park. The park is a nice setting for the vehicles to set up. Some of the food trucks also set up in the parking lot. The park itself doesn’t actually have a name. It’s just part of the university’s campus.

What to Expect

Don’t expect massive crowds to turn up when the classic car show runs in future years. When it ran in previous years, it was more of a community event. That didn’t mean there weren’t lots of interesting cars to see, however, as there were usually vehicles that dated back to the 1940s and 1950s.

If you like antique and collectible vehicles, it was a great event to check out. And with admission by donation, it was both very affordable and for a good cause. In 2022 as many as 130 to 140 cars participated!

There were various awards given out to owners of the classic vehicles based on public voting. Show categories included “1995 or Older” and “Collector Cars and Classics.” Another one that was new in 2022 was “Motorcycles” which were allowed to participate.

For those who wanted to grab a bite to eat while checking out the vehicles, there were food trucks on-site. The event was hosted entirely outdoors and organizers encouraged visitors to either wear a hat and use sunscreen if it was a hot day, or bring an umbrella if rain was in the forecast.

As mentioned above, all proceeds from the classic car show benefitted Chilliwack General Hospital. When it ran, this event raised money for the hospital for a number of years and continued to do so during the pandemic even when the show itself was cancelled. Tax receipts were available for donations of $20 or more.

TIP: The parking lot at the venue has signs that say “pay parking.” Most years, though, parking on the day is free. If you aren’t sure if it is in a future year, ask one of the volunteers before paying.
