Fraser Valley Classic Car Show

Classic Car in a Chilliwack Park

Serving as a fundraiser for Chilliwack General Hospital, the Fraser Valley Classic Car Show is a community event where you can see some cool cars.

FV Classic Car Show in Chilliwack

The Fraser Valley Classic Car Show isn’t the largest Car Show in the Lower Mainland, but it’s still quite big and a great event. The 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the pandemic. Happily, the event returned in 2022 and it happens again on Sunday, June 11th, 2023.

Anyone can enter their classic vehicle in the show. The only requirement is that it is from the 20th century. The cost to do so is a $10 donation to the Chilliwack General Hospital. You can also register and donate $15 on the day of the event. Admission to the event for spectators is by donation. All proceeds go to the hospital’s charitable foundation.

Where and When

The car show takes place at the University of Fraser Valley’s Chilliwack campus near the intersection of Caen Avenue and Sicily Road. The venue is just a couple of blocks north of Vedder Park. It’s also just a block or so from the Justice Institute of BC which is located at 5470 Dieppe Street.

The event takes place in the parking lot and on the lawns of the nearby park. The vehicles set up in the park which makes it an extra nice setting. Some of the food trucks set up in the parking lot. The park itself doesn’t actually have a name. It’s just part of the university’s campus.

The 2019 event was the first one to take place at this location. In 2022, after the pandemic-induced hiatus, it returned to the same spot. The car show in 2022 took place on Saturday, June 11th, from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.

What to Expect

Don’t expect massive crowds at the classic car show. It’s more of a community event. That doesn’t mean there aren’t lots of interesting cars to see, however, as there are usually vehicles that date back to the 1940s and 50s.

If you like antique and collectible vehicles, it’s a great event to check out. And with admission by donation, it’s both very affordable and for a good cause. In 2022 as many as 130 to 140 cars participated!

There are various awards given out to owners of the classic vehicles based on public voting. Show categories include “1995 or Older” and “Collector Cars and Classics”. Another one that was new in 2022 was “Motorcycles” which are now also welcome to participate.

For those who want to grab a bite to eat while checking out the vehicles, there are food trucks on site. The event is entirely outdoors so make sure bring a hat or some sunscreen if it’s hot out, or bring an umbrella if it looks like it’ll rain.

As mentioned above, all proceeds from the classic car show benefit Chilliwack General Hospital. This event has raised money for the hospital for a number of years and continued to do so during the pandemic even when the show itself was cancelled. Tax receipts are available for donations of $20 or more.
