Fraser Valley Classic Car Show

Classic Car in a Chilliwack Park

Serving as a fundraiser for Chilliwack General Hospital, the Fraser Valley Classic Car Show is a community event where you can see some cool cars.

In 2024 the event happened in Chilliwack on Sunday, June 9th.

Other events that happen around this time of year include North Vancouver’s Shipyards Night Market and Langley Community Day (both of which are free and feature live music and food trucks). There is also Fair in the Square and Italian Day on the Drive in Vancouver as well as the Teddy Bear Picnic in Coquitlam.

FV Classic Car Show in Chilliwack

The Fraser Valley Classic Car Show isn’t the largest Car Show in the Lower Mainland, but is still a fairly big event. The 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to COVD-19. The event returned in 2022, but was then cancelled again in 2023. The car show returned in 2024 and happened on Sunday, June 9th.

Anyone can enter their classic vehicle in the show. The only requirement is that the car is from the 20th century. The cost to enter is a $20 donation to the Chilliwack General Hospital. Admission to the event for spectators is by donation. All proceeds go to the hospital’s charitable foundation.

Where and When is the Car Show

The car show happens at the University of Fraser Valley’s Chilliwack campus near the intersection of Caen Avenue and Dieppe Street. The venue is just a couple of blocks north of Vedder Park. It’s also just a block or so from the Justice Institute of BC which is located at 5470 Dieppe Street.

The event takes place in the parking lot and on the lawns of the nearby park. The park is a nice setting for the vehicles to set up. Some of the food trucks also set up in the parking lot. The park itself doesn’t actually have a name. It’s just part of the university’s campus.

What to Expect

Don’t expect massive crowds to turn up when the classic car show does run. When it ran in previous years, it was more of a community event. That doesn’t mean there aren’t lots of interesting cars to see, however, as there are usually vehicles that date back to the 1940s and 1950s.

If you like antique and collectible vehicles, it’s a great event to check out. And with admission by donation, it’s both very affordable and for a good cause. There can be up to 140 or so cars participating!

There are usually various awards given out to owners of the classic vehicles based on public voting. Show categories can include “1995 or Older” and “Collector Cars and Classics.” Another one that was new in 2022 was “Motorcycles” which were allowed to participate.

For those who want to grab a bite to eat while checking out the vehicles, there are food trucks on site. The event is hosted entirely outdoors and organizers encourage visitors to either wear a hat and use sunscreen if it’s a hot day, or bring an umbrella if rain is in the forecast.

As mentioned above, all proceeds from the classic car show benefit Chilliwack General Hospital. Tax receipts are available for donations of $20 or more.

TIP: The parking lot at the venue has signs that say “pay parking.” Most years, though, parking on the day is free. If you aren’t sure if it is in a future year, ask one of the volunteers before paying.
