Langley Community Day

Community Day is a free family-friendly event with live entertainment, play zones, market vendors, food trucks and more at Douglas Park in Langley.

The event takes place in 2024 on June 8th which is the Saturday just before the Father’s Day Weekend.

There were over 30 vendors on-site at the event in 2022 offering tasty treats and unique things to buy. The event in 2023 was similar.

Community Day in Langley

The City of Langley hosts a Community Day event in Douglas Park in June. As its name suggests, the annual event is an outdoor celebration of the community. In years when the event takes place, there are lots of family-friendly activities to enjoy on-site.

In 2024, Langley’s Community Day celebrated its 30th anniversary on Saturday, June 8th. Last year it ran from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. 2024 will likely the same.

The event takes place at Douglas Park which is located at 5403-5409 206th Street in Langley. The park is on the same block as the Douglas Recreation Centre and Douglas Park Community School.

What to Expect at Community Day

In years when Community Day happens, expect to see lots of people around the Douglas Park area. It’s a popular event that’s open to the public and free to attend. The event is fun for all ages, so you’ll likely see lots of families participating in the various activities.

 

Community Day Activities

In 2023 Community Day featured a stage with live performances by Krystle Dos Santos, Karima Essa and Silver Diamond Country Dancers, to name but a few. There were also several informational booths run by representatives from community organizations.

Some of the biggest activities attendees can take part in include mini golf, ball hockey, an inflatable safari, a radical run obstacle course, arts and crafts, and more! These activities were open from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm during the event’s run in 2023.

For the adults, the beer garden was back in 2023 to enjoy. The 2022 event also had a small market with over 15 different vendors. High quality products that were on display ranged from handmade houseware to finely scented soaps.

Another large component of the event is presented by the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival and it was back in 2023. There are over 20 food trucks at Douglas Park offering everything from poutine and mac & cheese to mini donuts and ice cream. In 2022 the food trucks, beer garden and market vendors were open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. In 2023 the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival was open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and the market vendors were open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Live Entertainment

Live entertainment takes place on the Douglas Park Spirit Stage. Artists last year included Karima Essa, Krystle dos Santos, the Silver Diamond Country Dancers and Johnny Elvis. There was also Viva Mexico, the Quintessential Jazz Band, Country Cuties, Kat Moon and the Wild Moccasin Dancers. The 2024 lineup will likely be comparable.

 

Tips & Suggestions

Below are tips that will help you make the most of Langley’s Community Day event.

TIP #1: Don’t go to the event with a full stomach! There are so many food trucks to choose from! Unless you want to save some money by bringing your own snacks, treat yourself to fresh and yummy treats at the event.

TIP #2: There are so many different kinds of food to choose from. If you go with friends or family, buy a number of food items to share.

TIP #3: Another terrific event in Langley in the summer is the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival. In 2024 it takes place on July 26th to 28th. If you like live music and Jazz, you’ll definitely want to attend this event. You’ll want to take in some of the concerts at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival too!
