Vancouver’s Horsepower 4 Horsepower Event

The Horsepower 4 Horsepower event is one of several great Car Shows in the Lower Mainland. It’s a fundraiser featuring a high number of super cars for the public to check out, as well as horse racing.

Horsepower 4 Horsepower takes place at Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver. Last year’s edition happened on Saturday, September 7th. The date for the 2025 event is to be confirmed. Hastings Racecourse is located at 188 Renfrew Street in Hastings Park which is right next to the PNE and Pacific Coliseum.

Horse racing takes place at Hastings Raceway during the warmest six months of the year, and on certain dates they have special events. The Cup, for example, is an event with live music, horse races and where people dress up fancy in July. At that event there are also a few exotic cars on display, although nowhere near as many as at the Horsepower 4 Horsepower event in September. Admission to The Cup is also quite expensive, whereas with Horsepower 4 Horsepower it’s free for the general public.

What to Expect

The Horsepower 4 Horsepower event is a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House. The event features anywhere from 50 to 100 luxury cars on display at the Hastings Racecourse. There are horse races that take place at the venue during the car show.

Along with the races and the cars on display, the event includes food trucks, family-friendly activities and a live DJ. The show usually starts at 2:00 pm, although exact timing for 2025 is to be confirmed.

CARS AT EVERYTHING ELECTRIC CANADA

Another awesome event where you can see lots of cars on the same weekend as Horsepower 4 Horsepower is at Everything Electric Canada which is a giant electric vehicle and appliance show at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Formerly called Fully Charged LIVE, Everything Electric happens in 2025 on September 5th to 7th. If you like cars, e-vehicles, e-bikes and cutting-edge green technology, we highly recommend checking it out!

Hastings Racecourse

Hastings Racecourse is one of the more unique sporting venues in Vancouver. Not only are parking and admission free, which is rare, but the racecourse first opened in 1889. That means it’s the oldest still-active sports facility in the city!

The horse races take place from April through the end of September most years. There’s also a casino at the venue which is open year-round.

There are races on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the spring and summer, and sometimes on Sundays and Mondays as well. The races typically start at 7:30 pm on Fridays, and around 2:00 pm or 2:30 pm on the other days.
