Outdoor Drive-in Movies

Drive-in movie theatres aren’t a thing of the past. In Vancouver there is Langley’s Twilight Drive-In. Other places also host outdoor movies in the summer.

Drive-In Movie Theatres in Metro Vancouver

Twilight Drive-In is the Lower Mainland’s only permanent drive-in movie theatre.  It’s located at 3350-260th Street in Langley. Lansdowne Mall in Richmond usually hosts a weekly drive-in movie event in the summer. A couple of other places do too occasionally.

Outdoor Movies in 2020

Lots of free outdoor movies usually happen at various venues in the summer, but not so much in 2020. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, non-drive-in-style events like Waterfront Cinema and Stanley Park Summer Cinema have been cancelled for this year. Hopefully they’ll be back again in 2021.

Because of COVID-19, drive-in movies have become especially popular. They are outdoors, more or less, and allow people to watch films from the comfort and safety of their vehicles.

Langley’s Twilight Drive-In shows two movies a night. Fresh Air Cinema has also had a number of drive-in movie events in places like Cloverdale and White Rock. River District Vancouver has also hosted drive-in movies in past years.
