Dozens of movies are shown for free each summer around Vancouver including in Stanley Park, at Canada Place, on the North Shore and various other locations.
Folks bring blankets, lawn chairs, family and friends to enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Most free outdoor movies were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately, most outdoor movie events returned in 2022 and happened again in 2023.

- Deckchair Cinema – Fantastic Planet showed at Cates Deck in North Vancouver. Admission was by donation.

July 4th (Tuesday) Movie
- Stanley Park Summer Cinema – Bring It On showed for free on one of the largest outdoor screens in the Lower Mainland.
July 6th (Thursday) Movie
- Summer Movie Nights – Twilight showed in the Vancouver Art Gallery Square.
- Deckchair Cinema – Interstella 5555 showed at Cates Deck in North Vancouver. Admission was by donation.
July 7th (Friday) Movie
- Langley Outdoor Movie Nights – Top Gun: Maverick showed at Douglas Park.
- North Vancouver Civic Plaza Movies – The Minions: Rise of Gru showed outside the North Vancouver City Library.

July 11th (Tuesday) Movie
- Stanley Park Summer Cinema – The Super Mario Bros. Movie showed for free on one of the largest outdoor screens in the Lower Mainland.
July 13th (Thursday) Movie
- Summer Movie Nights – Bend It Like Beckham showed in the Vancouver Art Gallery Square.
- Deckchair Cinema – What We Do In The Shadows showed at Cates Deck in North Vancouver. Admission was by donation.

July 18th (Tuesday) Movie
- Stanley Park Summer Cinema – My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Parent Trap, or 10 Things I Hate About You showed for free on one of the largest outdoor screens in the Lower Mainland.
July 20th (Thursday) Movie
- Summer Movie Nights – Legally Blonde showed in the Vancouver Art Gallery Square.
- Deckchair Cinema – Whale Rider showed at Cates Deck in North Vancouver. Admission was by donation.
July 25th (Tuesday) Movie
- Stanley Park Summer Cinema – Jaws showed for free on one of the largest outdoor screens in the Lower Mainland.
July 27th (Thursday) Movie
- Summer Movie Nights – The Lego Movie showed in the Vancouver Art Gallery Square.
