Dozens of movies are shown for free each summer around Vancouver including in Stanley Park, at Canada Place, on the North Shore and various other locations.

Folk bring blankets, lawn chairs, family and friends to enjoy the outdoor entertainment.

2017 Free Outdoor Movies (in Chronological Order)

The following movies in 2017 all start at dusk unless otherwise stated and the list is in chronological order. If you want to see the list organized by location, click SUMMER OUTDOOR MOVIES and you’ll see what’s showing at Stanley Park, Canada Place, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey and other locations over the course of the summer.

July 1 (Saturday) Movie

  • Beauty & the Beast – shows at 9:15 pm at Fort Langley as part of the historic site’s Canada Day celebrations.

July 4 (Tuesday) Movie

July 7 (Friday) Movie

  • Family Movie Nights in the Plaza – the movie The Never Ending Story shows at 9:30 pm outside the Civic Library in North Vancouver.
  • The Goonies – showing at New Westminster’s Queen’s Park Stadium as part of the city’s regular weekly Outdoor Summer Movie Series. Gates open at 7 pm and the movie starts at dusk (so after 9 pm).

  • Footloose – showing at New Westminster’s Queen’s Park Stadium as part of the city’s regular weekly Outdoor Summer Movie Series. Gates open at 7 pm and the movie starts at dusk (so after 9 pm).

July 18 (Tuesday) Movie

  • Stanley Park Summer Cinema – the original Toy Story film shows for free on one of the largest outdoor screens in the Lower Mainland.

July 21 (Friday) Movie

  • Family Movie Nights in the Plaza – the movie The Secret Life of Pets shows at 9:30 pm in the plaza outside the Civic Library in North Vancouver.
  • Dirty Dancing – showing at New Westminster’s Queen’s Park Stadium as part of the city’s regular weekly Outdoor Summer Movie Series. Gates open at 7 pm and the movie starts at dusk (so around 9 pm).

July 25 (Tuesday) Movie

  • Stanley Park Summer CinemaNational Lampoon’s Vacation staring Chevy Chase shows for free on one of the largest outdoor screens in the Lower Mainland.

July 27 (Thursday) Movie

July 28 (Friday) Movie

  • Movie Under the Stars – an outdoor film in Squamish’s Junction Park at 37950 Cleveland Avenue as part of the Squamish Wind Festival. The film starts at dusk but family-friendly activities run from 6:00 until 9:30 pm. Feature film to be determined.
  • Hook – showing at New Westminster’s Queen’s Park Stadium as part of the city’s regular weekly Outdoor Summer Movie Series. Gates open at 7 pm and the movie starts at dusk (so around 9 pm).

  • Starlight Theatre Drive-in Movies – a drive-in movie at Lansdowne Centre at 5300 No. 3 Road in Richmond. Free for the first 200 vehicles. Tonight’s film is La La Land.

  • Hidden Figures – showing at John Lawson Park in West Vancouver as part of the Harmony Arts Festival.
