The Elektra Women’s Choir is a talented group of women who sing together. The Vancouver-based choir hosts several concerts at different Lower Mainland locations.

Concerts during the Christmas holiday season include ones at Pacific Spirit United Church in Vancouver on the last weekend of November.

Elektra Women’s Choir in Vancouver in 2026

The Elektra Women’s Choir is a large, experienced choir in Vancouver. Initially formed in 1987, the all-women’s choir features around 48 members. The group runs weekly rehearsals and puts on a few shows each year. So far, Elektra has commissioned and sung more than 100 different compositions. They are an auditioned and prize-winning ensemble that has performed around the world.

 

2025/2026 Season

Elektra Women’s Choir has unveiled its 39th season – the first season under new Artistic Director Cassie Luftspring, following founder Morna Edmundson’s 38-year tenure. The 2025/2026 program blends contemporary works with beloved traditions, with a mix of ticketed concerts and free-with-RSVP events.

Season tickets were available until October 15th last year; single tickets are now on sale via the Elektra Women’s Choir website (prices below are subject to change). Unless noted otherwise, concerts take place at Pacific Spirit United Church (2195 West 45th Avenue, Vancouver).

 

Chez Nous: Christmas with Elektra

  • Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 7:30 pm.
  • Sunday, November 30th, 2025, at 3:00 pm.

Chez Nous, Elektra’s 2025 Christmas celebration, blended traditional carols with contemporary sounds. Last year’s concert also premiered a new work by Gerda Blok-Wilson and included performances with the Mira Youth Mentorship singers.

Last year’s tickets cost $40 for adults, $35.24 for seniors, and $19.05 for students.

 

If the Earth Could Sing

  • Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at 7:30 pm.
  • Sunday, March 29th, 2026, at 4:00 pm.

This spring concert explores nature and climate. If the Earth Could Sing immerses audiences in choral storytelling and multimedia art to highlight Canada’s changing landscapes.

Tickets cost $40 for adults, $35.24 for seniors, and $19.05 for students.

 

Choral Threads: Tapestry International Festival 

  • Friday, May 8th, 2026, at 7:30 pm.

Opening the Tapestry International Festival, Choral Threads brings together Elektra and three guest choirs: The Aeolian Singers (from Halifax); La Caccina (from Chicago); and Peninsula Women’s Chorus (from California). There is a shared finale in which all choirs sing together.

Admission is free. (Advance registration is required through the official website.)

 

Tapestry Celebration Concert: Tapestry International Festival

  • Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 7:30 pm.

This concert takes place at Christ Church Cathedral, located at 690 Burrard Street, Vancouver. Concluding the Tapestry Festival, this grand finale unites Elektra and its guest choirs for an evening of song. The concert includes solo performances and a collective finale celebrating collaboration and the unifying power of music.

Tickets cost $40 for adults, $35.24 for seniors, and $19.05 for students.

 

Choral Encourters 2026

  • Monday, May 25th, 2026, at 7:00 pm.

Choral Encounters is Elektra’s annual celebration of community singing. Guest choirs of all ages join Elektra for an evening of non-competitive performances filled with laughter, connection, and fantastic music. This concert is free, but an RSVP through the official website is required to secure a ticket.
