Vancouver’s Havana Theatre and Cuban Restaurant

Havana Restaurant

Havana Vancouver is a Cuban-style restaurant that features live shows and performances including theatre productions, comedians and musicians.

Havana Vancouver on Commercial Drive

This restaurant is a Latin American-inspired bar and eatery that serves brunch, lunch, and dinner. Havana is known for its colourful atmosphere and lively energy. The restaurant is a longtime favourite in East Vancouver for both casual meals and social nights out.

The address is 1212 Commercial Drive, which is in the heart of Vancouver’s “Little Italy.” Havana is open from 11:00 am until “late” on weekdays and from 10:00 am to “late” on weekends.

The restaurant has a large menu that mixes Latin flavours with comfort food. They also have a good selection of cocktails and drinks. Whether you’re looking for an eggs Benedict breakfast or a meal that will make you feel like you’re in Cuba, the eatery has something for you.

As of early 2026, brunch and lunch plates cost around $20. Dinner mains are around $25, depending on the dish. Paella, for example, is $35, which gets very good reviews. They also run a Happy Hour from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and again from 9:00 pm until closing, Sunday through Thursday.

When we went to the restaurant a while back, we had Mussels and fish tacos. Both were tasty. The people sitting next to us had the paella and said it was delicious. We want to try that next time, plus maybe the beef tacos. To finish, we had tres leches cake, which was amazing!

What to Expect

The atmosphere at the restaurant is typically vibrant and fun. It’s a very popular spot on the weekends. Havana also features a well-known year-round patio, making it a great spot during warmer months and on sunny days.

Expect to see groups of friends and couples on dates. During the week, it is quieter, and on weekends it is usually lively and loud. Making a reservation in advance is a good idea to make sure you can get a table.

Havana is part of a small group of restaurants. If you like Havana, you will likely enjoy its sister restaurants, The Flamingo Room and Belgard Kitchen. The Flamingo Room is located next door to Havana, making it easy to visit at the same time. It’s a Miami-style cocktail bar with live entertainment. The Belgard Kitchen has a different, more low-key theme and is well known for its brunch and use of local ingredients.

From Havana Theatre to The Flamingo Room

The space behind Havana Restaurant used to be the Havana Theatre. It was a small performance theatre that hosted live comedy, improv, theatre productions, and special events. For many years, it was a popular late-night spot on Commercial Drive. The theatre was known for its affordable tickets.

In late 2023, the theatre space was remodeled and reopened as The Flamingo Room. It is now a Miami-inspired cocktail lounge operated by the same owners. Instead of a theatre, the place focuses on cocktails, bar snacks, and live entertainment.

Although it is at the same location as the former Havana Theatre, the venue no longer has seating for performances or a stage. It is now designed for social evenings and late-night drinks and looks like a regular cocktail lounge with a Miami theme.
