Helijet is a helicopter company that offers flights from the waterfront in downtown Vancouver as well as to and from Richmond, Victoria and other destinations.

Helijet Vancouver

Launched in 1986, the Vancouver-based transportation company operates both chartered and regularly scheduled flights. It has a terminal near Canada Place by Waterfront Station in the heart of Vancouver. Its other Lower Mainland location is at YVR Airport in Richmond.

Helijet operates in several cities across the Lower Mainland and beyond including Vancouver, Richmond, Victoria, Nanaimo, Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert. It also manages heliports in Vancouver Harbour, Victoria Harbour and Nanaimo Harbour.

The company operates three types of helicopters. There is the AS350B2, which is only used in Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert. The other two are the Bell LongRanger 206L3 and Sikorsky S76. Scheduled flights are primarily conducted on the Sikorsky.

Interestingly, the majority of Helijet’s customers are businesses and government employees. Not so many tourists use their services, although some do.

  • Victoria Harbour Heliport to Vancouver Harbour Heliport
  • Nanaimo Harbour Heliport to Vancouver Harbour Heliport
  • Vancouver International Airport to Victoria Harbour Heliport (Monday-Friday, limited flights)

Helijet asks passengers who book for regularly scheduled flights to check in at least 20 minutes prior to departure. The flights can hold up to 12 passengers and two pieces of baggage per person. No animals are allowed on Helijet flights.

Helicopter Prices

Helijet uses a tired pricing system. Depending on demand and the day of the week, prices may be lower or higher. Approximate average prices for Helijet’s most popular routes as of the summer of 2023 are listed below:

  • Vancouver Harbour to Nanaimo – $175 to $215
  • Vancouver Harbour to Victoria Harbour – $375 to $435

Note: Prices are subject to change. See the Helijet website for the most up-to-date information.

Often Helijet will run flash sales on their tickets. The company usually announces sales on Twitter at 5:00 pm the day before the flight. The ticket sales are non-refundable but they are a really good deal!
