What’s Showing at the Improv Centre at Granville Island?

There are regular shows on most days of the week except for Mondays. As of early July in 2025, shows include Theatresports, Blockbuster, House Teams, Summer Sizzler and Choose-Day.

The venue’s address is 1502 Duranleau Street. It’s near the entrance to Granville Island under the Granville Street Bridge.

Special Shows at the Improv Centre

There are special shows at the Improv Centre from time to time. They include seasonal shows, like romance-themed ones around Valentine’s Day, or Christmas-themed productions in December.

One special production in 2025 is the Canada ‘Eh Show. It takes place at 7:00 pm on July 1st. It’s a funny celebration of things that make our country great.

Regular Comedy Shows at the Improv Centre

As of early July, regular shows at Granville Island’s Improv Centre include Theatresports, House Teams, Blockbuster, Summer Sizzler and Choose-Day. Below are details about each of them.

Theatresports at the Improv Centre

Theatresports is the name of the venue’s traditional style of show. It’s what the Improv Centre has become famous for.

During this show two teams of actors do short, improvised skits and compete against one another for points. It’s kind of like the TV program Whose Line Is It Anyway. The “contestants” have to act out silly, quirky and unusual scenes. They have to think fast on their feet and make things up as they go.

With the Theatresports shows, sometimes the actors use props, sometimes they have to sing, and frequently there is audience participation. Even the sound and lighting person has to act and react quickly to what’s happening on stage.

The Theatresports shows happen on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 or 9:30 pm. Tickets cost about $28 each.

Improv Centre Theatre

Choose-Day

A fun show where the audience gets to shout out suggestions for scenes. It’s an interactive experience that keeps guests engaged and improv performers on their toes.

The show runs on select Tuesdays at 7:30 pm. Tickets are pay-what-you-can with options such as $10, $15 and $20 per person.

Summer Sizzler

This show is all about the hottest season of the year. The cast draws on summer vacation experiences from the audience. Topics typically include everything from barbecues and road trips to bike rides and other fun summer activities.

Summer Sizzler shows happen on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. Tickets cost about $23.50 each.

Blockbuster

Blockbuster is a show based on films. Scenes from popular movies are recreated on stage with hilarious twists.

The show runs on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm. Tickets cost about $18.50 each.

House Teams

House Teams is a weekly show featuring two different teams of performers. One team hits the stage in the first half, followed by another team in the second half. The show runs on Sunday nights at 7:30 pm.

Tickets cost $10 and Happy Hour is on throughout the evening.
