Vancouver Weirdos Holiday Market at Christmas

Vancouver Weirdos Holiday Market

The Weirdos Holiday Market features unique and out-of-the-ordinary products that you can’t find at traditional Christmas artisan craft fairs in Vancouver.

You won’t likely see handmade Christmas tree ornaments, Santa Claus dolls or Christmas sweaters knitted by little old ladies for sale at this event. Instead, expect to see more alternative-style stuff appealing to and sold by people with a wide range of interests, tastes and backgrounds.

In 2023 the Weirdos Holiday Market happened on weekends between December 8th and the 17th. Other markets with artisan vendors taking place in December include the Shipyards Artisan Market, Made in the 604 Markets, the Kensington Holiday Craft Fair, and Coquitlam Christmas Night Market. There is also the Christmas Gifts Expo, New West Holiday Market and Vancouver Christmas Market.

Weirdos Holiday Market in Vancouver

Words used to describe the Weirdos Holiday Market and the products its vendors sell include creative, eclectic, eccentric, unique, weird and wonderful. Items you’ll find include special gems, natural health products, remedies, books, jewellery, greeting cards, and items made out of old toys and bones.

Expect to see a mix of alternative, Goth, New Age, and just plain funky. Some vendor stalls wouldn’t seem out of place at a regular artisan market or craft fair. Others, though, definitely would.

Where Does the Market Happen?

In previous years the market took place in Venables Hall at the Britannia Community Services Centre. Since 2022, however, the Weirdos Holiday Market is now in the Russian Hall, which is located at 600 Campbell Avenue in Vancouver.

Who Are the Vendors?

Below are some of the vendors from previous years who returned to the Weirdos Holiday Market in 2023.

  • Brutally Beautiful – this small artistic company does photoshoots and creates custom sets. It also sells jewellery and other art pieces.
  • Shewolf Tattoo and Apothecary – along with designing and applying tattoos, these folks sell incense, herbs and tarot readings.
  • Violet Patrich of Ultraviolet Oddities – Violet Patrich is an artist who creates items like plant holders, jewellery and general decorations out of plastic baby dolls.
  • West Coast Macabre – this vendor specializes in selling taxidermied or otherwise preserved animals. The vendor can also take commissions to do the same for your specimens.

Two other returning vendors in 2023 included Innerwolf Jewelry and Kwest Costume Art. Newer additions included Intergalactic Ceramic, Puppyteeth Studios, Wicked Bath, Roan’s Victorian Rag Dolls, Art By Tuna, and Decadent Decay.
