Dine Out Vancouver Festival

The Dine Out Vancouver Festival is Canada’s biggest restaurant festival where hundreds of restaurants put on special three-course menus at great prices.

Some of the region’s Best Restaurants participate, and full set meals range from just $20 to $65 or so, plus taxes and tips, and extra for wine pairings.

Some of the many restaurants that participated this year included the H2 Kitchen + Bar and H Tasting Lounge at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. There was also the P2B Bistro & Bar at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront and Tutto Italian in Yaletown, plus North Shore restaurants like Pier 7 and The Lobby. There are hundreds of other great places too!

Vancouver’s Winter Restaurant Festival

The 2024 Dine Out Vancouver Festival took place from January 17th until February 4th. It featured various events including seminars, tours and Street Food City 12. Of course, there were also special menus available at restaurants across the Lower Mainland. Prices for three-course meals this year cost up to $65 each.

Some of the best restaurants that participated in the 2024 festival (and are great to check out any time of the year) are listed below.

Downtown Vancouver Restaurants

Below is a list of Vancouver restaurants that participated in the 2024 festival in a number of neighbourhoods including Coal Harbour, Yaletown, Granville Island, Gastown, Vancouver parks and other parts of the city.

 

Restaurants Near the Vancouver Convention Centre

The following restaurants are near Canada Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre.

  • ARC Restaurant – urban artisan food at the Fairmont Waterfront, located at 900 Canada Place. In 2024 it offered a bottomless brunch for $49, as well as a three-course lunch for $35 and a four-course dinner for $55.
  • Five Sails – this fancy restaurant at the Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place had a $65 three-course menu in 2024. It included scallop carpaccio or leek & potato soup to start. For your main you could choose between filet mignon, king salmon and mushroom polenta. For dessert, there was a lemon tart or chocolate gateau cake.
  • Hydra Estiatorio – a Mediterranean-themed restaurant in the EXchange Hotel Vancouver, located at 475 Howe Street. It features Greek cuisine and a large cocktail bar. Its 2024 dinner menu cost $59. Mains included braised chicken, prawn souvlaki and lamb chops.
  • P2B Bistro & Bar – a really nice casual place at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront at 1133 West Hastings Street. The restaurant had lunch and dinner offers that included cedar smoked salmon, grilled flat iron steak or mushroom ravioli for entrées. The P2B Bistro meals also came with either a salad or seafood chowder plus lemon tart or chocolate decadence cake for dessert.
  • Showcase Restaurant & Bar – a restaurant at the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel at 1120 West Hastings Street. It offered a $49 dinner menu with a choice between two appetizers, two entrées and two desserts.

Other Restaurants in Coal Harbour

The following restaurants are also on or near the Coal Harbour waterfront.

  • H2 Kitchen + Bar – a terrific restaurant at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. Its dinner menu in 2024 was a fabulous deal for just $35. It included your choice of kale & radicchio salad or chicken corn chowder as appetizers, and banana pudding or sticky toffee pudding for dessert. You could also choose between slow smoked beef brisket, cajun shrimp & grits, or mushroom mac for entrées. (Click H2 Kitchen + Bar to see our article about this restaurant.)
  • H Tasting Lounge – this restaurant is also at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. Whereas the H2 Kitchen + Bar specializes more in meat, this place specializes in seafood. In 2024 the three-course lunch menu at the H Tasting Lounge cost $40. Entrées included your choice of steak frites, seafood ‘nduja pasta, or roasted cauliflower steak. Appetizers were steamed pork & shrimp siu mai or harvest squash salad. For dessert there was a delicious calamansi tart.
  • Prestons Restaurant and Lounge – at 1177 West Pender Street at the Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel, this casual restaurant offered a $50 dinner special in 2024. Mains included duck breast, veal gnocchi and squash korma curry.

 

Restaurants in Yaletown

The following places are either in or not far from Yaletown.

  • Frankie’s Italian – Southern Italian cuisine at the Georgian Court Hotel at 765 Beatty Street. In 2024 it offered a special lunch menu for $28 during the festival. It included one of two mains and one of two desserts. The dinner special cost $50 and included three courses. Options were lobster ravioli, short rib, panna cotta and more.
  • Hendricks – an urban cocktail lounge and restaurant at the Hilton Vancouver Downtown at 433 Robson Street. Its Dine Out Vancouver Festival special was a $50 three-course dinner. Entrée options were short rib, salmon and pasta.
  • Honey Salt – farm-to-table food at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver at 39 Smithe Street. The restaurant offered a $39 lunch menu with options like poke, savoury pie, a burger and more. There was also a three-course dinner for $56 with a choice of shrimp linguini, risotto or bolognaise.
  • Provence Marinaside – at 1177 Marinaside Crescent in Yaletown facing False Creek. The lunch and dinner menu special this year cost $59 and included a choice of seafood bouillabaisse, mushroom ravioli, or beef tenderloin (at an extra cost). Seafood at Provence is verified with the Ocean Wise Seafood program.
  • Tutto Restaurant – a very nice Italian place at 901 Homer Street in Yaletown. In 2024 it offered a $65 lunch and dinner menu with options like cioppino and chicken piccata.

Restaurants On Granville Island

Granville Island-based restaurants that participated in 2024 are listed below.Ocean Wise Seafood

  • Dockside Restaurant – a casual fine dining establishment at 1253 Johnston Street at the Granville Island Hotel. Its three-course dinner menu cost $50 in 2024. Main options included steelhead salmon, maitake mushroom, filet mignon and chicken marsala. (Note: This restaurant participates in the Ocean Wise Seafood program.)
  • The Keg – the steakhouse had a fancy $65 dinner menu this year which included steak and prime rib entrée options. Appetizers were Caesar salad, lobster bisque or an iceberg wedge. For dessert you had a choice of cheesecake or Billy Miner pie (which is made of ice cream, chocolate, hot fudge, caramel and almonds).
  • Vancouver Fish Co. – at 1517 Anderson Street near the entrance to Granville Island, this seafood restaurant has a prime location and gets okay reviews. Its dinner menu for the festival cost $54, with a main choice of duck tagliatelle, Nova Scotia lobster or a mix of seafood and red meat.

Restaurants Near Gastown

  • Top of Vancouver – a famous place in Gastown at the Harbour Centre at 555 West Hastings Street. $65 dinner menu items here included a choice of filet mignon, mushroom ravioli, cajun chicken breast, or a couple other options.
  • Stock & Supply – located in the Delta Hotels by Marriott Vancouver Downtown Suites hotel at 550 West Hastings Street. The restaurant is proud to use local ingredients. Its Dine Out Vancouver Festival menu cost $45 and also came with optional wine pairings.

 

Restaurants In Vancouver Parks

  • Seasons in the Park – the fancy restaurant at the top of Queen Elizabeth Park had $55 lunch and dinner options in 2024 that included a choice of seafood stew, duck confit or a pasta entrée. (TIP: If going for lunch, and if it’s a nice day, be sure to check out the park while you’re there.) The restaurant also serves a variety of Ocean Wise Seafood.
  • Stanley Park Brewing – the relatively new restaurant is located near the pitch and putt and tennis courts in Stanley Park. Its lunch and dinner deal cost $35 and included a prawn cocktail or pork dumpling appetizer along with the choice of a fish sandwich, confit chicken or an eggplant lasagna. Dessert was either fried cheesecake or an ice cream sandwich. (TIP: Be sure to explore Stanley Park if the weather permits. Walking or biking along the Seawall is always a treat.) The place also participates in the Ocean Wise Seafood program.

Chain Restaurants with Multiple Vancouver Locations

Other great downtown Vancouver restaurants that participated in the 2024 festival included the following:

  • Cactus Club Cafe – locations of this popular chain restaurant had three-course dinners for $45. Entrée choices included things like an 8 oz. steak, creole chicken, Thai green curry and other items.
  • The Keg – the steakhouse’s locations at Alberni Street, Dunsmuir, Yaletown and Granville Island offered $65 dinner menus in 2024. Entrée options included sirloin oscar, filet mignon and prime rib.
  • Moxies – upscale but casual dining at Sandman Hotels at both 1160 Davie Street and 180 West Georgia Street. Its 2024 Dine Out Vancouver Festival dinner menu cost $50 each. One possible combination of dishes was tuna sushi, chipotle mango chicken and key lime pie.
  • Tap & Barrel – this restaurant has waterfront locations in both Olympic Village and Coal Harbour. Both offered great three-course specials. The lunch menu cost $29 and the dinner special was $45. Entrée options included pizzas and burgers for lunch and steak frites or forager chicken for dinner.

 

Other Downtown Vancouver Restaurants

Other great downtown Vancouver restaurants that participated in the 2024 festival included the following:

  • Notch8 Restaurant – an upscale place at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver at 900 West Georgia Street. Its special $59 three-course dinner menu featured a choice of duck confit or roasted ling cod with optional wine pairings.
  • Mosaic Bar & Grille – in 2024 the main restaurant at the Hyatt Hotel had three-course lunch menus for $32 and dinners for $60. Depending on the time of day you went, some of the entrée options you could choose among included prawn linguini, butter chicken, scallops, and beef tenderloin.
  • Alouette Bistro – a highly-rated restaurant at the Executive Hotel Le Soleil, located at 567 Hornby Street. The French bistro offered a $54 menu in 2024 that included dishes like beef tartar, trout almondine and more.
  • Café One – West Coast dishes at 1000 Burrard Street in the Sheraton Wall Centre Vancouver. It offered $34 lunch and $43 dinner specials in 2024. Mains included spinach and ricotta gnocchi, ling cod, a pulled pork sandwich and more.
  • Carlino – an Italian restaurant with a BC influence at the Shangri-La Hotel. Located at 1115 Alberni Street, the restaurant’s Dine Out Vancouver special was a $65 dinner menu with saffron risotto or gnocchetti.
  • Diva at the Met – located at 645 Howe Street in the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, this restaurant had a three-course lunch for $40. One possible combination was salad, seared lingcod and tiramisu. The same menu was available for dinner, but for $55.
  • Unwind – a social restaurant and lounge at the Holiday Inn Vancouver at 1110 Howe Street. Its 2024 special was a $39.50 dinner with a choice of beef wellington, seafood, cheese pierogis and more.

Best North Shore Restaurants

Some of the best restaurants that participated in the Dine Out Vancouver Festival in North Vancouver and West Vancouver in 2024 are listed below.

 

North Vancouver Restaurants

  • Arm’s Reach Bistro – at 4390 Gallant Avenue in Deep Cove, this place offers great food in a beautiful part of town. Its 2024 Dine Out Vancouver Festival lunch and dinner menu cost $42 and included a choice of duck confit or linguine cauliflower.
  • Bravo Cucina Ristorante – a North Vancouver Italian restaurant at 1209 Lonsdale Avenue (so halfway up the hill). In 2024 it had a dinner menu for $49. Entrée options included stuffed chicken breast, braised lamb shank and mushroom risotto.
  • Ocean Wise SeafoodFishworks – a highly-rated fish and seafood restaurant at 91 Lonsdale Avenue (so right by Lonsdale Quay and the Shipyards). Its $48 three-course dinner menu included a choice of Pacific lingcod, Egmont sturgeon or seafood soup. (Note: This restaurant participates in the Ocean Wise Seafood program.)
  • Pier 7 Restaurant + Bar – a restaurant with exceptional seafood and waterfront views at 25 Wallace Mews in the heart of the Shipyards. For the restaurant’s website, visit pierseven.ca.

  • Village Taphouse – a popular pub at 900 Main Street at the Park Royal Shopping Centre. Dinner cost $35 in 2024. Your entrée choices included a mushroom pizza, chicken tacos, burgers and more. The meal also came with your choice of Korean chicken, brussel sprouts or sierra salad, plus a banana ice cream dish or brownie for dessert. This restaurant also participates in the Ocean Wise Seafood program.

Best Restaurants in Burnaby

Some of the best restaurants that participated in the 2024 Vancouver Dine Out Festival in Burnaby were the following:

  • Atlas Steak + Fish – a restaurant at 4331 Dominion Street (near the Trans-Canada Highway and Willingdon). Its 2024 menu cost $49 and included chowder or salad, along with a choice of filet béarnaise, smoked chicken breast or ahi tuna, as well as one of two desserts.
  • Baci Ristorante – an Italian place at 3728 East Hastings Street (near Boundary). It had a $50 lunch and dinner menu. Both included salad, a choice of various pasta or meat main dish options, and a tiramisu dessert.
  • Burnaby Mountain Restaurant – located at 7600 Halifax Street, this restaurant offered two different three-course brunch menus in 2024. One cost $25 and included peach bruschetta, salmon avocado toast, French toast and more. The other brunch cost $35 with options such as lobster hash, steak with eggs and more.
  • Hart House – at 6664 Deer Lake Avenue at Deer Lake Park. Dinner at this heritage building cost $58 in 2024 and featured a choice of steelhead, duck leg, or braised lentils. (TIP: If the weather is good, before dinner, go for a walk around Deer Lake. The restaurant is in a beautiful area.) (Note: This restaurant participates in the Ocean Wise Seafood program.)

  • Ban Chok Dee – an award-winning restaurant that specializes in Thai cuisine located at 20395 Lougheed Highway #400. Its dinner cost $45 and included spring rolls, stir-fry and more.
  • The Keg Steakhouse – the popular chain restaurant at 20640 Dewdney Trunk Road offered a $65 three-course dinner menu this year. Entrée choices included sirloin steak, prime rib or filet mignon.

Best Restaurants in New Westminster

Popular New Westminster restaurants that participated in the 2024 festival were the following:

  • El Santo – an upscale Mexican place at 680 Columbia Street. 2024 menu entrées included wagyu steak, chile relleno and risotto. For dessert there was a choice between churros and ice cream. The three-course dinner deal cost $50.
  • Gino’s – an affordably-priced place that serves Italian and other Mediterranean dishes at 431 East Columbia Street. Its three-course lunch and dinner in 2024 cost $30 and featured an appetizer, a choice of chicken souvlaki, roast lamb, pizza, prawn souvlaki or lasagna & meatballs, plus a dessert.

Best Restaurants in Richmond

Great 2024 Dine Out Vancouver Restaurants in Richmond included the following:

  • Flying Beaver – a bar and grill-style restaurant located at the Harbour Air seaplane terminal on the Fraser River at 4760 Inglis Drive. Its $27.50 lunch and dinner menus were available for dine-in and take-out. Entrée options included haddock, pork chops or sirloin steak.
  • The Keg Steakhouse – the 11151 No. 5 Road location of this popular chain restaurant had three-course dinners for $65. The place is located near SilverCity Riverport Cinemas and not far from the International Buddhist Temple. Our favourite option is the prime rib, but the steaks are also exceptional.

Best Restaurants in Surrey

2024 Dine Out Vancouver Festival restaurants in Surrey included the following:

  • Afghan Kitchen – a highly-rated restaurant at 16120 24th Avenue in Central Surrey near the Morgan Crossing shopping centre. The three-course dinner specials here were $50. One of the entrée options was chicken kebab.
  • The Keg – the popular steakhouse has Surrey locations at 15180 32nd Avenue Diversion and 7948 120th Street. Both were offering $65 dinner specials. Sirloin oscar (8 oz.) and prime rib (14 oz.) were both on the menu.

 

Additional Information

If you are in town in late January or the first weekend in February in a typical year, then you’ll definitely want to know about the Dine Out Vancouver Festival. There is no better time to enjoy all the culinary talent that Vancouver has to offer. Plus, this is also a great time of year to stay in the region. Not only are there exceptional restaurant deals, but some hotels participate too, offering attractive packages at reduced rates.

The weather is far from its best in January, but the festival’s restaurant and hotel specials make up for that.
