Poppy Estate Golf Course in Langley

Poppy Estate Golf Course

Poppy Estate is one of the best executive golf courses in the Vancouver region. It’s a well-maintained par 63 course between downtown Langley and Aldergrove.

Metro Vancouver’s Poppy Estate Golf

Poppy Estate is a wonderful 18-hole executive golf course with a unique design. While most holes at other executive courses in Metro Vancouver are par 3’s, Poppy Estate features nine par 3’s and nine par 4’s. This balanced number of short and long holes makes the course especially fun to play. Players have ample opportunities to use almost any club in their bag, so it’s a good place for everyone to improve at the sport.

There are three sets of tee boxes at Poppy Estate, and the course plays 4503 yards from the tips. Some tee boxes overlook downhill fairways whereas others play into uphill greens.

One nice aspect of this course is that there are no blind tee shots or dogleg fairways. Players can see each green from each tee box, so there’s no guessing or hesitation regarding when or where to hit the ball.

Poppy Estate offers a few eagle opportunities for experienced golfers who can drive the ball around 280 yards. Make no mistake though, the elevation changes, sand traps and water hazards throughout the course still make for a challenging round.

We’ve played Poppy Estate a few times over the past couple of years. On average, it takes longer to finish a round of golf here than it does at smaller executive courses. However, Poppy Estate always seems to be well-maintained and we thoroughly enjoy playing it.

In addition to the 18-hole golf course, Poppy Estate has two practice greens and a few practice cages to use before your tee time. There is also a restaurant with patio seating that boasts a nice view of Mount Baker.

Green Fees at Poppy Estate

As with most other golf courses in Metro Vancouver, green fees vary depending on the season and time of day. As of May 2024, the adult prime time rate on weekdays is about $53. Prime time rates increase to $65 on weekends. Twilight discounts begin at about 1:30 pm during this time of the year and prices decrease more as sunset approaches.

Power carts are available for rental most of the time. The cost for one person to rent a power cart was about $30 the last time we checked, and two can ride for $40. Pull cart rentals cost about $5 per person.

Where is Poppy Estate?

Poppy Estate is located at 3834 248th Street in Langley (not far from Aldergrove).

The drive from downtown Vancouver is about an hour (depending on the traffic). Coming from Vancouver, stay on the Trans-Canada Highway until exit 66. From there, stay right to get onto 232 Street and then turn left onto Fraser Highway. Lastly, make a left turn onto 248th Street and then a right turn into Poppy Estate.

To make the long drive even more worthwhile, the Greater Vancouver Zoo is less than 10 minutes away from Poppy Estate. The Twilight Drive-In Theatre is also nearby and worth checking out. It’s the only drive-in theatre in Metro Vancouver. There are a number of nice Lower Mainland Vineyards in the region as well.

TIP: Another great place to visit in the area is the Fort Langley National Historic Site. Located about 15 minutes away by car, it’s an educational attraction full of things to see and do. There are demonstrations and special events throughout the year as well. For more details about the fort, visit the Parks Canada website.
