Britannia Mine’s Monsters, Machines and Mischief Event
Britannia Mine Museum hosts a Halloween event most years at 150 Copper Drive in Britannia Beach, which is a 12 km drive south of Squamish. The Halloween event usually takes place on the last few weekends of October. In 2026 it happens on the Saturdays and Sundays of October 17th & 18th as well as the 24th & 25th.
Halloween Celebrations in 2026
Britannia Mine’s Halloween event in 2026 has a “Monsters, Machines and Mischief” theme. There are six playful monsters to see in the Machine Shop, each of which is based on a real piece of mining machinery. Guests get to learn all about the characters and the important machines they represent.
Throughout the October event, there’s a special edition of the underground tour which features lower lighting, Halloween-themed items and more. Another highlight of the 2026 event is the series of science demonstrations including exploding pumpkins and magnetic slime. There’s also a monster-themed scavenger hunt and colouring activities.
Tickets cost around $25 to $33 for kids ages 5 to 17, and around $43 for people ages 18 and older. Children under the age of 5, meanwhile, enter for free. Admission to the Halloween activities is included with access to the rest of the museum too.
Halloween at Britannia Mine in Previous Years
In previous years, themes for the Halloween event have been “Dia de los Muertos”, “FANG-Tastic Halloween”, “Bat-to-the-Bone,” “Treasures of the Deep,” and “Cabinet of Curiosities.” Each year is a little different.
The Halloween event at Britannia Mine is not only spooky, but also a fun and educational experience for everyone. For example, the event a few years ago featured a “vampire chamber” plus educational displays and activities about bats. The event isn’t super scary. Just a little bit.
In 2025 Britannia Mine Museum celebrated its 50th year with a special “Dia de Los Muertos” celebration. It took place around Halloween, but it didn’t have a Halloween theme. Instead, it was a celebration of the Mexican holiday that honours the deceased. There were various cultural displays and interactive activities for all ages.

About the Museum
The Britannia Mine Museum is a National Historic Site in Squamish. At one point in history, it was the largest copper mine in the British Empire! The mine produced 7,000 tons of ore every day in its heyday. More than 60,000 people both lived and worked at the facility.
The place has been preserved by the Britannia Mine Museum Society, so it’s open for educational visits and underground tours. There are multiple buildings to explore, as well as interesting exhibits and activities for all ages. Guests can pan for gold, learn through interactive displays, and get a glimpse of what life on the mine was like in the past.
The museum hosts a variety of special events throughout the year. In addition to the Halloween-themed festivities, there’s also Photos With Santa in December and special events for Easter, Spring Break and other occasions.
