Carnaval del Sol

See below for information on Carnaval del Sol 2015, and click Carnaval del Sol 2016 for information on the 2016 event (which takes place on the weekend of July 9-10 at Concord Pacific Place).

Latin Carnaval at Concord Pacific Place

Carnaval del Sol is Vancouver’s premier Latin festival, with dance performances, Latin food and great live music. In 2015 the venue was in False Creek at Concord Pacific Place, which is halfway between the Plaza of Nations near the Edgewater Casino (by BC Place Stadium) and Science World. In 2016 it takes place at the same place.

Carnaval del Sol is a FREE event and includes Latin dance performances and great live bands, including a Grammy award-winning artist, Alex Cuba, in 2015.

After weeks of scorching sun and then skies full of forest fire smoke, as luck would have it Carnaval del Sol 2015 took place during Vancouver’s first real weekend all summer of cloud and slight rain. That didn’t stop the fun, however. Carnaval del Sol, in fact, was the hottest, sunniest and best place to be in Vancouver that weekend.

Gates opened on both the Saturday and Sunday at 10 am, but things didn’t really get going until closer to noon. By evening each day the place was packed with fun!

If you like Latin food, music and people, this was an event not to miss!
