First Impressions Theatre hosts great productions at North Vancouver’s Deep Cove Shaw Theatre. Its 2025-2026 season features shows from September to May.

Shows in the 2025-2026 season include the following:

  • Gunmetal Blues – November 13th to 29th
  • Art – February 19th to March 7th
  • Singers in a Smoky Room – April 30th to May 16th

Art is a comedy that centres on three longtime friendsSerge, Marc and Yvanwhose 15-year bond starts to wobble after Serge purchases a costly piece of modern art. The painting is essentially a white canvas marked only by a few delicate white strokes.

First Impressions Theatre at Deep Cove

First Impressions Theatre is a small theatre company based on Vancouver’s North Shore. Similar to the Deep Cove Stage Society, it hosts shows at the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre which is one part of the Deep Cove Cultural Centre. The venue is located at 4360 Gallant Avenue in North Vancouver. Although the facility is small with just 130 seats, First Impressions Theatre puts on excellent productions each year. The company celebrates its 43rd anniversary in 2026.

2025-2026 Season and Admission

First Impressions Theatre hosts shows from the fall until the spring. The 2025-2026 season started on September 11th, 2025, and runs until May 16th, 2026.

Tickets to productions by First Impressions Theatre are reasonably priced. General admission to each regular show last season cost around $35 or so for adults. Students and Seniors pay about $6 less. Tickets are available online well in advance. The 2025-2026 season will likely be similar.

2025-2026 Season

The productions for the 2025-2026 season include four shows scheduled between September and May. Season passes went on sale in late April last year. Early Bird Flex Passes cost $105 for adults and include four tickets that can be used for any performance of any show. Flex Passes for seniors cost $99 and for youth they are $75.

Jake’s Gift

September 11th, 2025 – September 20th, 2025

Jake’s Gift told the story of a Canadian war veteran who returned to Juno Beach (one of the D-Day landing sites in World War II) on the 60th anniversary of the landing. There, he met a young girl who caused him to reflect on memories that he’d avoided for a long time.

Gunmetal Blues

November 13th, 2025 – November 29th, 2025

A drama musical with a noir vibe, Gunmetal Blues featured a private eye who tried to solve the disappearance of a blonde woman. The show was narrated by a piano player in the Red Eye Lounge who added to the mystery of it all.

In 2025 this play showed on the Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of November 13th to 15th, 20th to 22nd and 28th and 29th.

Originally a French production that’s been translated into English, Art follows the relationship drama between three long-time friends when one of them buys an expensive painting that’s a white canvas with a few faint white lines on it.

Singers in a Smoky Room

April 30th, 2026 – May 16th, 2026

Singers in a Smoky Room features plenty of throwback ’80s music (and also some throwback ’80s hairstyles). The show features dancing, singing and a live house band in the Flashback Club.
